It won’t be hitting screens until 2014, but people are already getting excited about the new Lego movie. The film, which has the tentative title of Lego: The Piece of Resistance, will be voiced by an all-star cast that includes Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum, and Chris Pratt.
According to NME , the 3D film is being made by Warner Bros. and already has a release date set for February 28, 2014.
Freeman will be playing a character called Viruvius, and Arnett will voice a Lego version of Batman. Channing Tatum will voice a lego version of Superman and Chris Pratt will play ordinary lego-man Emmit.
The synopsis for the movie reads:
“The film, the first-ever full length theatrical LEGO movie, follows Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under-prepared.”
Gizmodo reports that the new movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord and Miller recently directed Tatum in the remake of 21 Jump Street. The duo also have some experience with animation as they directed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
