‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan Throws His Hat In The Ring To Be The Next James Bond
Sam Heughan might be getting ready to swap his kilt for a suit and tie as the next James Bond.
According to Deadline News, the Outlander star is eyeing the role as the next Bond and has plenty of support to help him along.
Star Trek alum William Shatner was the first to point out how Heughan would be perfect for the role as the new 007. In a message on social media, Shatner wrote that Heughan would be perfect for the part because he is a “tall, talented and good looking” actor.
Heughan, who is known for his part as the red-headed Scotsman Jamie Fraser on Outlander, would be the first ginger to take up 007’s mantel. Of course, that’s assuming Heughan will continue to dye his hair like he does in Outlander.
Heughan’s hair is not naturally red. If producers are looking for a red-head, then Heughan’s dark blond hair might put him at a disadvantage. This is especially true considering how Damien Lewis, who was also thought to be up for the part, is a true redhead.
“@007 Have I got a guy for you!” Shatner wrote on Twitter. “Tall good looking, talented; no not me (but thank you) @SamHeughan is your next Bond. Look no further!”
In response, Heughan asked Shatner on Twitter if he’d consider being one of the infamous villains in the Bond franchise, Oddjob.
“You could be Oddjob?” Heughan said.
“You’re making me a villain?” Shatner responded on Twitter.
Along with Shatner, fans have also voiced their support for Heughan’s bid as the next Bond. For the most part, Heughan’s fans sounded more than thrilled about the idea of their favorite Outlander star landing the iconic role, although British oddsmakers put his chances at 33/1.

At the same time, this is not the first time Shatner has exchanged words on social media with Sam Heughan. Back in February, Shatner shared how Scotch whisky was made for him and not Heughan.
In reply, Heughan playfully told Shatner that he probably soaked up too much sun in Los Angeles.
A month later, the two discussed the various dolls fashioned after their television characters.
Producers have yet to announce who will replace Daniel Craig for the iconic role. Aside from Heughan, Scotsman is reporting that a number of top notch actors are in the running for the part.
This includes the likes of Idris Elba from Luther and Tom Hiddleston from The Avengers. Considering the caliber of these stars, Heughan definitely has his work cut out if he wants to land the part.
That being said, Heughan has a massive Outlander following to his advantage. Not only could he make history as the first redhead to play Bond, but his loyal fan base would boost ticket sales.
Meanwhile, E! Online reports that Heughan recently rocked his athletic body for the glamorous magazine, Haute Living. Based on the steamy photos, Heughan would definitely draw a crowd as the next Bond.
Heughan swapped his Outlander kilt for a number of stylish clothes in a super hot photo shoot. Aside from his sporting nothing but a pair of track pants, Heughan looked just as comfortable in a Versace and Berluti suits.
Heughan kept his hair tied back during the May 2016 spread and also donned a few fitted jackets and Dior Homme T-shirts.
Although it’s unclear if Heughan is really considering playing Bond in the coming years, the photos definitely reminded fans just how sexy Heughan can look in front of a camera.
While the Bond verdict is still out, fans can watch Heughan as the second season of Outlander continues Saturday nights on Starz.
