WWE Rumors: Kurt Angle Returning To WWE To Be A Part Of The ‘New Era’ Of Wrestling
Ever since Kurt Angle went to TNA Impact Wrestling, there have been rumors of him making a return to WWE. Those rumors have never ended up having any truth to them, and now, Angle is in the middle of taking a year off from major promotions. He’s currently a free agent, and a person can change their mind at any time, which is why it sure seems like Angle is ready to take on the “New Era” of wrestling in WWE.
Sometime over the course of the next month, WWE will hold another superstar draft to begin the “New Era” of wrestling, which will start with the live SmackDown on Tuesday, July 19. There have been a lot of recent call-ups from NXT and a lot of new talent (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Austin Aries) making their way into WWE this year.
Now, Kurt Angle wants to be a part of all that, and he’s actually campaigning to make wrestling great again.

With this being the middle of the presidential election season, Angle is playing off of that and looking to make the world of professional wrestling great again. The link to his official Facebook page gives a bit more info as to what he is trying to do, and it’s rather interesting when reading into it.
Apparently, he has something in the works, and it’s going to be big.
“I see so much talent in wrestling today, but I don’t believe that wrestling has an identity anymore. The Attitude Era in 1997-2002. And the Ruthless Aggression Era 2003-2009. What makes it special today besides the young array of talent? They need something to ignite the wrestling fans-” to ignite the Universe”. It’s time to lead the charge. STAY TUNED—?#?itstrue??#?letsmakewrestlinggreatagain? ?#?LMWGA?.”
In that Facebook post, Angle mentions the “Attitude Era,” which is a huge part of WWE’s history and served as a turning point for the company. He also mentions the “Ruthless Aggression Era,” which includes the end of his WWE run and the beginning of his TNA run. “Ruthless Aggression” is also a term that has been used quite often in WWE and is even the sub-name for a line of its action figures.
In September 2006, Kurt Angle joined TNA and started a decade-long portion of his career that included some very rocky moments. He’s admitted that he was addicted to painkillers for a while and received four DUIs in a five-year span, and he knows that is all a big part of the reason that WWE hasn’t wanted him back yet.
Back in March, Angle spoke with The World According to Wrestling, and he spoke of the fact that there is a definite want to return to WWE. At that time, he didn’t want to go back, and he knew why WWE wasn’t ready to bring him back into the fold over the years.
“As a publicly traded company, it doesn’t matter if you’re Kurt Angle, Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Undertaker…when you get involved in that kind of trouble consistently. That’s the last thing they need. So, when I did try and go back a year-and-a-half ago, I think they were thinking ‘Let’s see how he pans out, let’s see if he can stay clean, let’s see if he got his sh*t together.’ So, I think that’s part of it. I don’t blame them for that. I actually knew ahead of time that they were most likely going to say ‘No,’ and I knew it was because of my own actions. But being clean now for three years and abiding by what I have to…I know that there will come a time where I will go back.”
This was the same interview where Angle spoke about loving the idea of going back to WWE, and he even had some plans for it.
When he was in WWE, he was a part of a stable known as Team Angle, which consisted of himself and The World’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin). Now, Angle sees a lot of potential in NXT’s Jason Jordan and Chad Gable to be a part of a new Team Angle.
Jordan and Gable are known as American Alpha in NXT, and they are the current NXT Tag Team Champions and a part of the “New Era.” Kurt Angle may have a lot more plans prepared than anyone realizes, and that could see him back in WWE sooner rather than later.
Kurt Angle’s return to WWE would honestly be one of the biggest wrestling stories of the past decade, and fans would truly love it. There have been numerous reasons as to why he hasn’t made the big comeback and why Vince McMahon hasn’t welcomed him with open arms. The return of the WWE brand split and the start of the “New Era” of wrestling means a lot of fresh matches and new talent, and Kurt Angle wants to be a part of all that.
