Sunday night’s episode of Sister Wives was very awkward to say the least. Kody and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, have been dealing with Meri’s emotional online affair for months. Although the family has publicly stood up for Meri, she still thinks the family holds resentment towards her.
This week on Sister Wives, Meri decided to take a trip to Utah to visit her only daughter, Mariah. Meri and Mariah’s relationship has been very strained since Meri’s emotional affair, so Meri thought it would be a good idea to take another of the Brown children as a sort of buffer between her and Mariah. Meri decided to ask Robyn and Kody if she could take Solomon with her, because Mariah is very close to Solomon.
When Meri first asked her sister wife, Robyn, if she could take Solomon with her, it didn’t go well. Kody was at Robyn’s house when Meri stopped by, and started laughing when Meri asked if she could take Solomon. Meri automatically went into defense mode once Kody started laughing. Robyn then went on to explain that Solomon had been very clingy with her recently, and couldn’t be away from her for more than an hour. Christine and Janelle took to Twitter Sunday night to defend Robyn’s statements, while Sister Wives was airing.
Solomon was so different the last few weeks of Robyn’s pregnancy. He wouldn’t come to my house without her to play. Sad boy! #SisterWives

You know I usually ignore the ignorant – but I’m going 2 growl here. Stop seeing Sol not going something other than a mother knowing her son

Meri left Robyn’s house very upset and slammed the door as she walked out. Robyn and Kody then decided they needed to talk to Meri more about the situation and headed over to Meri’s house. Once at Meri’s house, Robyn reiterated to Meri that her decision had nothing to do with her, and completely revolved around Solomon’s recent behavior. Meri told Robyn and Kody that she thought maybe they didn’t trust her because of the emotional affair, but they reassured her it had nothing to do with that. Robyn ended up giving Meri a very uncomfortable hug that was almost painful to watch.
As sisterwives we’re all included in upbringing of kids but bio mom always has final say. #RespectToMoms #RespectToSisterwives #SisterWives

In the end, Meri ended up taking one of Robyn’s other children, Breanna. Meri took Breanna out of school for a day, and they headed to Utah for an incredibly awkward and revealing encounter with Mariah.

It was clear from the moment Meri arrived in Utah, Mariah was not happy to have her there. She awkwardly hugged her mother out of obligation and in general, acted like she would rather be anywhere other than her mother’s presence. At one point during Sister Wives , Mariah made an embarrassing comment in front of Meri’s family, asking her why she draws her eyebrows on so thin. It was clear Mariah was trying to hurt Meri with the statement.
I have ?? to see Mariah come into her own. She seems so much more comfortable in her own skin. But there are growing pains. #SisterWives

After Mariah made her harsh comment, Meri told Mariah they needed to go on a walk to talk about things. The two ended up at a park and essentially sat in silence while they watched Mariah’s dog, Mosley, play. TLC cut to a Sister Wives interview with Mariah while the awkward scenes played out. In the interview, it seemed as if Mariah implied she knew Meri’s emotional affair was happening and told Meri she needed to stop. A portion of the affair happened while Mariah was at home over the summer, and it sounds like Meri didn’t do a very good job of hiding the affair from Mariah. Mariah made it very clear she did not forgive Meri for everything she had done, at least not yet.
The whole Sister Wives episode left viewers feeling uncomfortable with the encounter between Mariah and Meri, but a few of the moms tried to play it off like it was no big deal.
I think it was great that @MeriBrown1 and @mariahlian started talking. They’ll work it out. They love each other very much. #SisterWives

Any mom knows, just love your kids no matter what. She’ll open up when she’s ready. Until then, bonus moms are a God send. #SisterWives
