Green Bay Packers: 5 Bold Predictions For The 2016 NFL Season
The Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2016 NFL season with high expectations. Aaron Rodgers and company are still stinging from their loss to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime of their NFC divisional playoff matchup. It was a tough way to end the season, but the Packers firmly believe that they can get back to being a championship contender once again this season.
Mike McCarthy has to be excited with the roster that he will be working with this offseason. Ted Thompson may not have made any massive pickups in free agency, but adding veteran tight end Jared Cook will be a move that helps Green Bay’s offense become even more dangerous than it has been in recent years.
Looking ahead at the upcoming season, the Packers’ fan base should begin getting excited.
There are many reasons to believe that Green Bay will be one of the top teams in the NFL. Rodgers’ presence alone gives them an advantage over most teams. If their defense can step up like they are expected to, the Packers are going to be a major threat to win Super Bowl 51.
All of that being said, what five bold predictions can be made for the Green Bay Packers as they prepare to head into the 2016 NFL season?
Aaron Rodgers Wins the NFL Most Valuable Player of the Year Award
As has been the case in the past, Aaron Rodgers will once again prove that he is the Most Valuable Player in the NFL. Without him, the Packers are far from a championship contending team. Rodgers will once again power the Packers back to contention in the NFC and will win the MVP award.
Eddie Lacy Will Turn Things Around for Another 1,000-Yard Season
Last season was a brutal year for Eddie Lacy, as his weight problems slowed him down in a big way. He entered the offseason needing to drop a lot of weight, and that is exactly what he did. Lacy will come back with another big season and will rush for at least 1,000 yards on the year.
Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews Will Combine for at Least 30 Sacks
Green Bay will need Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers to step up in a big way for their defense. They are not going to be one of the top defensive units in the NFL, but they could force some turnovers with a top-notch pass rush. Matthews and Peppers are a dangerous team when they’re both on their game, and that will be the case this season.
Green Bay Will Reclaim the NFC North Division Title
Minnesota was able to knock off the Packers in Week 17 last season to take the NFC North division title. It was a rough end to the regular season for Green Bay, but they will take the division back this season. Rodgers will lead his team back to the top of the NFC North, even though the Vikings, Lions, and Bears will all be competitive.
The Green Bay Packers Will Win Super Bowl 51
Even though many believe the Carolina Panthers will be the best team in the NFC this season once again, Green Bay has a strong belief that they will win another championship. It won’t be an easy road, but the Packers certainly have the talent to do so. We’re going to go so far as to boldly predict that the Packers will end up winning Super Bowl 51.
Expect to see Green Bay put together a very entertaining season, to say the least. They want revenge for the struggles that they had last season and are going to be out to prove a point.
