‘The Fast And The Furious’ Will Be Back In Theaters For The 15th Anniversary

If you’re a fan of The Fast and the Furious movies you won’t have to wait until Fast 8 comes out to see your favorite characters back on the big screen. According to AutoWeek, in honor of the the 15th anniversary of the release of the first film, The Fast and the Furious is making its way back to theaters this June.

The Fast and the Furious will be doing a limited run, giving fans the chance to relive the movie in theaters with other fans of the films. Taking it all the way back to the days when Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) was just trying to take care of his family while enjoying some street racing. And Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) was an undercover cop just trying to make a name for himself before he fell in love with Dom’s little sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster).

The team in these films has grown and become more than just street car racers. They’re master criminals with good hearts, they’ve died and come back, and their family has grown exponentially from the size it was in the first film.

For many fans, this movie will be like taking a trip down memory lane, reliving the days when they first saw the movie and fell in love with these characters. For others it may be the first time they’re seeing The Fast and the Furious on a big screen, making it an amazing experience for newcomers to the series.

Either way, the loss of Paul Walker will be felt by everyone who loves the films. He was there from the very beginning and it’s heartbreaking that he’s no longer with us to celebrate the amazing accomplishments the Fast and Furious franchise continues to make. With each film this franchise continues to step it up, taking things to the next level, and fans haven’t gotten sick of them yet, continuing to show up by the millions to see each film.

On May 28, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed the first look at his Fast 8 character, Hobbs, a detective that once was on the hunt for Dom and his team, but has since worked with them to catch other criminals. Johnson posted the image on his Instagram account giving fans a little bit of insight into what’s in store for Hobbs.

“When you strip a man of all he has,” Johnson wrote in the caption. “All that’s important to him. You force him to return to his roots…and sometimes that’s a very dangerous and twisted place.”

It seems Johnson’s character will be going dark in the newest film for the franchise and though it’s unclear exactly what this will mean for the series, it’s exciting to see something new in the works.

Johnson continued to state, “If I was going to return for another FAST & FURIOUS I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his ‘Dady’s gotta go to work’ mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future.”

It’s clear Johnson wants to take Hobbs even further than just Fast 8 and even mentioned possibly doing a spin-off film or maybe just more Fast and Furious films. Either way, Hobbs has become a fan favorite in his own right and we’d love to see even more of him.

The cast of Fast 8 has started shooting and fans can’t wait to see what comes of this new film. Though it’ll be sad to see a new movie without Paul Walker in it, the franchise must go on and no doubt Brian O’Conner’s presence will still be felt in the new film even though he’s not there.
