Meera (Ellie Kendrick) is dragging Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) through the forest after their narrow escape in Episode 5 of Game of Thrones. They are still trying to evade the white walkers, but because of the Night King’s (Vladimir Furdik) touch, they are fighting a losing battle. Just when all seems lost, Benjen (Joseph Mawle) finally returns from the dead — well, sort of. He is changed, but with his help, they manage to evade the white walkers.
In Episode 6 of Game of Thrones, Samwell Tarly (John Bradley-West) has returned home and the meeting goes exactly as expected. Even with Sam pretending Gilly’s (Hannah Murray) child is his own, talk eventually turns to Gilly’s lineage. Once it is revealed she is a wildling, Samwell’s father’s prejudice flares and it is time for Sam to leave. Gilly, however, is allowed to stay because she is the mother of his grandson. So, being a wildling is not okay, having a half-wildling for a grandson is okay. Right, got it, Lord Tarly. But, once Samwell thinks things through, he decides they should all leave together. To add insult to injury, he takes his dad’s Valyrian steel sword. In King’s Landing, Margaery (Natalie Dormer) is preparing to do her walk of atonement. King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) is mortified his bride should have to be shamed in this way, but, really, we all know it is his embarrassment of the situation and how this will make him look in front of his followers he is having a hard time dealing with. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) plans to take back the city from the High Sparrow and demands he release Margery and her brother, Loras (Finn Jones) immediately. At first it seems the threat of military action scares the High Sparrow as he announces Margaery will not have to do a walk of atonement. However, this is just the High Sparrow playing Jaime Lannister. Instead, King Tommen and Margaery have decided to become non-secular. What this means is that both religion and the crown will now rule over King’s Landing in Game of Thrones. What it really means is that the High Sparrow now has a puppet called King Tommen.
Arya (Maisie Williams) is watching the troupe, getting ready to poison Lady Crane (Essie Davis). As Jaqen (Tom Wlaschiha) expected, Arya feels bad and decides not to kill Lady Crane. Instead she recovers Needle from its hiding place and goes into hiding herself.
Walder Frey (David Bradley) is another person who makes a long-anticipated return to Game of Thrones in Episode 6. It seems he will stop at nothing to reclaim Riverrun from the Tullys. He plans to use the captive Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies) to do this. Needless to say, it is unlikely Frey will side with the Starks in their bid to reclaim the North.
Finally, Episode 6 of Game of Thrones ends with the mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). She is discussing the logistics of how she will get back to Meereen and, ultimately, conquer the seven kingdoms. Just at that moment, one of her dragons decides to make an appearance. Using this moment wisely, Daenerys rallies the Dothraki to travel across the sea and help her capture the seven kingdoms. What did you think of Episode 6 of Game of Thrones?
