Johnny Depp’s Daughter Defends Him Against Amber Heard Domestic Violence Allegations — He’s A ‘Wonderful Father’
Johnny Depp’s 16-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, publicly defended him via her Instagram account, amidst allegations that he repeatedly abused his estranged wife, Us Weekly reports.
“My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know,” she wrote under an adorable childhood photo of her with Depp. “He’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”
Lily Rose Depp is the daughter of Vanessa Paradis, with whom Depp had a relationship for 14 years.
TMZ reports that Paradis has also come to Johnny Depp’s defense. TMZ acquired a handwritten letter, presumably signed by Paradis, in which she says that the domestic violence allegations against Depp have come as a complete surprise to her.
“Johnny Depp is the father of my two children, he’s a sensitive, loving and loved person,” Paradis wrote. ” I believe with all my heart that the recent allegations against him are outrageous.”
“In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man that I lived with for 14 wonderful years,” she added.
Paradis’ letter reflects a similar sentiment expressed by Depp’s first wife, Lori Anne Allison. Lori Anne Allison and Johnny Depp were married from 1983 to 1985, when she was 25 and Depp was 20. Lori-Anne told TMZ that Depp is a “soft person” who would never “lay a hand on a woman.” She also said that based on her knowledge of him, he’s a very gentle person, the type who treats his dogs better than some people treat their children.
Despite their breakup, Allison insists that she and Johnny Depp are still friendly and that she spoke to him recently to offer her condolences for his mother’s death.
On May 23, Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, citing irreconcilable differences. TMZ broke the story and reported that Heard asked the court to grant her spousal support. In response, Johnny Depp asked the court to waive its ability to grant her spousal support, via a counter-petition filed by his attorney, Laura Wasser. Then, on May 27, Amber Heard went to court to claim that Johnny Depp had abused her repeatedly during their short marriage and asked for a temporary restraining order against the Pirates of The Caribbean actor.
When the news of the impending divorce hit the news, an alleged friend of Amber’s said that The Danish Girl actress was just doing what she needed to do.“Amber did what she had to do to take care of herself,” the insider source told People magazine.
According to People magazine, the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp relationship had been fraught with tension even before the two actors got married 15 months ago. Their source said that Amber expressed reluctance to get married to Depp at their engagement party.
“Before Amber met Johnny she was just a regular super cool hipster chick living with roommates who dated girls,” a source said to People. “At their engagement party she kind of got cold feet… she was just like what is this scene and what am I doing here? She kind of couldn’t believe it was her life now.”
In December 2014, People magazine also reported that there was turmoil between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. It was apparently so tense that friends were questioning whether Heard and Depp would actually get married.
“There is no rush to marry at the moment,” a friend of Depp said at the time. “Johnny is crazy in love with Amber, but there is turmoil in the relationship.”
That turmoil could have been caused by a number of factors, but the source claimed that the over 20-year-age difference and Amber’s bisexuality could have played a role in causing tension between them.
“Amber flirts and has many different kinds of relationships,” the source said. “She is not really ready to settle down.”
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met during the filming of the movie Rum Diary (2011) and were married in February 2015.
