Near Death Experiences Not As Pleasant For Everyone: Perhaps Some Visit Hell During NDE
Have you ever wondered what is on the other side? There have been many cases of near-death experiences (NDEs) that report visiting “heaven,” but not all experience such a pleasant afterlife. In fact, some report visiting hell during their NDE.
Near-death experiences have been reported since the early 1970s, capturing the attention of scientists, psychiatrists, and psychologists. Eventually, studies were conducted and verified that, although some say they visited heaven, many visited what may be known as hell.
According to a 1978 book written by George Ritchie, Return From Tomorrow, his NDE wasn’t a pleasant visit to heaven. Richie served in WW II when he suddenly came down with pneumonia. He was taken to an Army hospital and was eventually pronounced dead. When he was revived nine minutes later, Richie described his near death experience.
The figure also took him to a wasteland. Everyone was fighting each other as if they were in a battle. Richie described the scene in his book.
“Even more hideous than the bites and kicks they exchanged, were the sexual abuses many were performing in feverish pantomime. Perversions I had never dreamed of were being vainly attempted all around us.”

According to a researcher and writer of Dancing Past the Dark, Nancy Evans Bush, one in five near death experiences are traumatic.
“Some are hot, some are cold, some are like deserts, some are like a swamp. Some are too bright, in terms of fire, and some are full of wet, slimy, nasty stuff. I’ve heard descriptions of wells with slimy creatures in them, but I’ve also heard barren wastes with nothing.”
Veronika Barthel was struck by lighting while in her car back in 1981. She described her terrible and terrifying NDE.
“The creatures that I saw there were more terrifying than anything I even saw in a horror movie. Today I know that they were demons. As soldiers they where marching past me, and in the middle of them were people that were screaming with pain. It was very difficult to breathe down there, because of the terrible smell of this place. I saw a lake, which looked like the inner part of a volcano, where people were cursing because of great pain.”
All these near-death experiences are similar in one way: they are terrifying. Sadly, there has been no connection made with those who have experienced such terrible near death experiences and their expected fate in the afterlife. Most of the people studied were not deserving of an afterlife in hell.
Near-death experiences have always been a debatable subject. Some believe that they are simply hallucinations due to the lack of oxygen in the brain. Others believe they are dreams, or in some cases nightmares, that one may have created in the mind leading up to death.
There are certainly no easy answers this, as most of the people who have experienced an NDE were beyond the ability to hallucinate because brain activity was completely gone.
Some believe these experiences are proof that there is “something” after death, whether it be a heaven or hell is beyond anything that can ever be proved with certainty.
