‘Bachelorette’ Contestant Derek Peth: How Far Does Derek Make It With JoJo? Another Reality Show Gig In His Future?
Derek Peth is one of 20 men who received a rose on the Bachelorette season premiere. The handsome 29-year-old Wall Street banker made JoJo smile when he told her he used to look like Harry Potter, but will they make a strong enough connection in the coming weeks to make him one of this season’s frontrunners?

Derek, who originally hails from Waverly, Iowa, was the second man out of the limo on night one. Although he didn’t get the first impression rose and got very little air time on the premiere, ABC has revealed that he will score the first one-on-one date of the season on Week 2 — a romantic picnic near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Derek and JoJo were spotted filming the episode back in March, and fans got a glimpse of the couple traveling to their first date with JoJo at the wheel of a classic car.
Reality Steve‘s spoilers indicate that the picnic date went well — JoJo gave Derek a rose, making him safe for another week. Fans will have to tune in on Monday night (May 30) to find out what they shared with each other during their date, but JoJo might be impressed with not only his love for music (watch him cover an Ed Sheeran song in the video below), but his job as a commercial banker.According to a previous report from the Inquisitr, JoJo is looking for someone who is successful, wealthy, and “on her level.” Even if Derek isn’t a multi-millionaire, the average pay (with bonuses) for a mid-level commercial banker working in New York City falls in the $200,000-$350,000 range, with VP level bankers bringing in $900,000 or more.
Spoilers indicate that Derek makes it far this season, but not quite far enough. The 6’3? tall hottie — who has come a long way from his Harry Potter lookalike days — will get to travel the world with JoJo, only to be sent home on Episode 6.
According to Reality Steve, Derek’s last stop on the Bachelorette will be in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he will get ousted at the end of a two-on-one date with JoJo and Chase McNary.
Fans who are disappointed that he didn’t find love with JoJo and would like to see more of the NYC banker may be in luck. In addition to showing up on the Men Tell All that airs in July, Derek is one of eight guys from JoJo’s season who is rumored to be heading to the third season of Bachelor in Paradise.
Guys from JoJo’s season: James Taylor, Vinny Venteria, Evan Bass, Wells Adams, Derek Peth, Christian Bishop, Chad Johnson, and Grant Kemp.
Girls from Ben’s season: Izzy Goodkind, Lace Morris (confirmed), twins Emily and Haley Ferguson, Jennifer Saviano, Olivia Caridi, Caila Quinn (confirmed), Jami Letain, Lauren Himle, Amanda Stanton, and Leah Block.
If Derek does score the Bachelor in Paradise gig, it won’t be long before he heads to a tropical resort to start filming. The season premiere airs on Tuesday, August 2, one day after JoJo hands out her final pick and — if spoilers are correct — gets engaged. Last season, filming for Paradise started in early June, so fans can expect to get more leaked details about the cast in the coming weeks.
