‘Outlander’ Season 2 Spoilers — Jamie And Claire Return To Scotland In New Sneak Peek [Watch]
Is Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) relationship about to turn the corner this week?
According to E! Online, a sneak peek for the coming episode of Outlander featured Jamie and Claire returning to Scotland. Not only did the pair look happy for the first time in weeks, but they also appeared to be back in love.
In last week’s installment, fans watched as Claire experienced a devastating miscarriage. Coupled with Jamie’s broken promise to not harm Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), Jamie and Claire’s marriage was at its worst place yet.
In the coming episode, the pair will travel back to Jamie’s home in Scotland. The two will be joined by Fergus (Romann Berrux) and Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix), who are joining Jamie to fight in the rebellion.
Now that they are back in Scotland, Jamie and Claire will focus on helping the Frasers get through the coming Jacobite Rebellion. This includes teaching them how to grow potatoes, harvest them, and eventually cook them.
Although this storyline lacks a romantic feel, the scenes in the trailer hint that Jamie and Claire are happy to be back home for a change. Hopefully, now that they are in more familiar surroundings, the two characters can start to re-build the holes in their relationship.During the first half of Season 2 of Outlander, Jamie and Claire’s time in France was anything but easy. Although they had high hopes of preventing the Jacobite Rebellion, everything they tried ultimately failed to change history.
To complicate things even further, Jamie was still dealing with the trauma he experienced at the hands of Black Jack last season. After he discovered that his nemesis was still alive, things really took a turn for the worse for Jamie and Claire’s relationship.
Hopefully, their time in Scotland will be enough to bring back their former love and passion for each other. If anything, their departure from France is a welcome relief and will bring the characters back to a more comfortable and familiar setting.
That being said, their renewed joy might not last very long. After all, with the Battle of Culloden still ahead, there’s no telling what kind of heartache will befall the couple in the latter half of Season 2.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter has released some mid-season art for Outlander. While the artwork from the first half of the season featured a lot of French scenes, the new posters reach back to the show’s Scottish heritage.
The newest image (below), titled “Long Live Scotland,” includes Jamie and Claire on horseback as they attempt to alter the history of the Jacobite Rebellion once and for all.
The new art follows an announcement from the network about scheduling changes. Beginning in July, Starz is going to move their original shows from Saturday to Sunday nights.“Sundays are a prestige night, and we feel our shows are definitely going to be very competitive, not just in viewership but in the attention-getting business on Sundays,” Albrecht shared. “So it made sense to move.”
With the series shifting to Scotland, fans will also be re-introduced to Jamie’s sister, Jenny (Laura Donnelly). According to TV Line, fans can also expect the series to introduce the character of Lord Lovat (Clive Russell).
“You’re going to see Lord Lovat?” a skeptical Jenny asks Jamie in the new promo trailer.
Jamie is seeking out his grandsire in order to get help in the rebellion. Jenny, however, clearly does not approve of her brother siding with Lord Lovat, no matter how much he can help their growing cause.
The second season of Outlander continues Saturday nights on Starz.
