The Vampire Diaries Season 8 does not have a premiere date yet. However, it will likely return in October 2016. What can fans expect when TVD returns to The CW network? Actor Paul Wesley spoke about Stefan and Damon Salvatore’s journey.
Warning: Spoilers for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 are ahead.
The CW posted a few short clips of Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder on the network’s official Facebook page. Filmed during The CW Upfront Presentation, the actor who plays Stefan Salvatore had something to say about Stefan and Damon’s situation.

“He’s back to being the Season 1 baddie,” Wesley teased about Damon Salvatore. The actor added, “He’s back and I think that’s good.”
Paul also spoke about Stefan and Damon always being opposites, with one being the “good” brother and the other doing bad things.
“I enjoy the dynamic of the two brothers being the antithesis of one another in the sense that… I always felt like… I prefer to be the bad one, but I do think it’s nice when one of them is sort of fallen off the edge and the other one is a little more the viewpoint of the audience,” Wesley added about the relationship between the Salvatore brothers on TVD. “It’s nice to polarize it that way.”
As fans recall, the Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries ended with the monster in the Vault taking away everything good in Damon. Later, the same thing happened to Enzo. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the monster in the Vault left Damon and Enzo with nothing but negativity, darkness and evil intentions. It’s like their humanity switch was turned off or completely taken away, only this is much worse.

As usual, Stefan Salvatore is going to try to save his brother. Along with Caroline Forbes and Bonnie Bennett, the vampires will track more than 60 disappearances. They know Damon and Enzo are responsible and hope the vampires can be found.
Viewers saw during the last few minutes of The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale what Damon and Enzo are doing. Dozens of bodies hang upside down, and the vampires look like they are enjoying themselves. Fans have seen Damon Salvatore appear bad before, but nothing could have prepared viewers for the look of pure, concentrated evil that was in his eyes.
With Damon and Enzo being completely stripped of everything good, let’s hope Stefan, Caroline and Bonnie have a plan. Finding the possessed vampires will do no good unless they can be changed back into who they used to be.
Brian Young wrote The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale. He spoke about Damon and Enzo’s predicament and if there is anything good left in the vampires.
“What we really wanted to do was give Damon a chance to act on ‘Bad Damon’ again, but do it in a way that we can always forgive him for,” Young told TV Guide. “Season 8 is going to be rough for Damon and Enzo because bad sh** is going on. But Stefan, always believing the best in his brother, believes Damon is still in there.”
Could Damon Salvatore die in The Vampire Diaries Season 8? Will the character be gone forever and just disappear? Will Stefan be fighting a losing battle? Or can Damon be saved?
Even though Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham are leaving after next season, Paul Wesley has not revealed his plans. During The CW Upfront Presentation, Paul joked about the confusion over whether Season 8 was really the last.
“Well, you say final,” Paul Wesley joked when asked about the final season of The Vampire Diaries. “Something you know that I don’t?”
