‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8: Elena Helps Bonnie Save Damon And Enzo? Loophole Possible [Spoilers]
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will begin on a very dark note. On the season finale, Bonnie Bennett was saved. Unfortunately, the creature inside the Vault used Elena Gilbert’s voice to trick Damon Salvatore. Now that both Damon and Enzo had their good qualities taken away by the ancient monster, who will save them? One theory is that Elena will return to help Bonnie save the missing vampires.

Many were hoping that Bonnie would be saved on the Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries. However, the series ended with a surprising twist. As The Inquisitr speculated, the monster in the Vault would trick Damon Salvatore by using his love for Elena. That turned out to be an accurate theory, but now both Damon and Enzo are in trouble. However, it is difficult to help vampires when they go on the run. The only clue Damon and Enzo’s friends have is a trail of missing bodies.

Not only will Damon and Enzo go on the run in The Vampire Diaries Season 8, but the bodies of victims aren’t just disappearing. They are being hung upside down in a warehouse, their blood dripping to the ground. Damon and Enzo are enjoying their murderous acts, torturing and killing a lot of people in a short time period. Based on what TVD fans saw during the final moments of the season finale, they don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
Even though Bonnie Bennett, Caroline Forbes and Stefan Salvatore will try to find Damon and Enzo, it won’t be easy. Bonnie lost her magic, which means she can’t even do a locator spell. This means The Vampire Diaries characters will have to track Damon and Enzo the old-fashioned way. However, even if they do find the missing vampires, what happens then? How can they be saved, especially when the creature has taken everything good about them, leaving Damon and Enzo will nothing but negative energy and evil intentions?
BreatheCast wrote a headline hinting that Nina Dobrev may return to The Vampire Diaries with a specific purpose. Perhaps Elena will wake up and help Bonnie save Damon and Enzo? In theory, it is a nice thought. However, long-time viewers of TVD know that Elena can’t help Bonnie because of the sleeping spell she is under. If Elena wakes up, then Bonnie dies.
However, there might be a loophole.
Last season on The Vampire Diaries, Rayna gave Bonnie her last life, which turned her into a vampire huntress. It was believed that Bonnie would be hunting her friends until she used that last life, which would kill her. However, Damon and Enzo figured out there was a loophole. Destroying the preserved body in the Vault squashed the spell, and Bonnie lived. Perhaps another loophole will be found with Elena?
Executive producer Julie Plec told TV Line that Nina Dobrev agreed to come back for the season finale of TVD. Many fans believe Season 8 will be the last, but that has not been confirmed. According to Variety, Marc Pedowitz, president of The CW, said Season 9 could happen, but it would depend on how viewers respond to The Vampire Diaries Season 8. With that being said, it also depends on if the cast wants to continue. Kat Graham and Ian Somerhalder have already announced their plans to leave after Season 8. It isn’t just the actors that matter, either. Will there be more stories to tell? Will the creator, producers, and writers decide one more season is enough?

Although it seems unlikely that Elena will wake up before Bonnie dies, it is always possible. TVD fans were surprised by the loophole that saved Bonnie in the episode titled “Gods & Monsters.” Could viewers see a loophole with Elena and Bonnie on The Vampire Diaries? Or is this too far-fetched, even for a supernatural TV show?
