Tamar Braxton Fired From ‘The Real’?
Tamar Braxton is not returning to The Real, and rumor has it she was fired. Recent reports claim that producers deemed her “unbearable to work with,” according to the Daily Mail.
Fans received the news after Tamar posted a picture to Instagram of Tamar and her sister and singer Toni Braxton hugging her.
The caption read, “I love u all but I have been stabbed in the back by someone I stupidly trusted (not my man or my sisters).”
The post came amid rumors she was fired from the talk show. Executives are said to have fired Tamar Braxton because of negative feedback on her “ghetto” persona given by focus groups and her on-set insubordination that lead to a rebellion by advertisers.

Braxton took a hiatus from the show in September 2015 to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars. During her absence, ratings held strong, however, showing slight increases depending on the guest star that replaced her for the day. During her absence, a focus group was conducted on the show to improve the ratings for its upcoming seasons. FOX renewed the show for Seasons 3 and 4.
Tamar did not test well with the focus group. According to the Daily Mail, the focus group research showed that most educated and working women did not identify with Tamar’s show vernacular. On May 21, Braxton’s fellow cast members Tamera Mowry-Housley, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Adrienne Bailon were informed that the show would be moving forward with her.
“Everyone was caught off guard. None of them saw it coming and everyone was completely blindsided by the decision,” a source close to production told the Daily Mail.
Braxton wrapped up Season 2 with her co-host, but she did not pretend she wasn’t returning. In a Twitter post, one of her fans tweeted her entrance to one of her last shows.
“Look at Tamar. She ain’t faking it,” she wrote in a tweet that included a video of the show’s opening with a less-than-enthusiastic Braxton taking the stage with her co-hosts.
The news was a shock to her cast members because they’d completed a photo shoot for promotions for the upcoming third season. They were supposed to travel to New Orleans together over July 4 weekend for a rare, off-season taping at the Essence Festival.
Some were unhappy with the show’s decision and took to social media to vent, including co-host Love. On Tuesday, Love posted a video on her official Facebook page saying she received a group text from Braxton explaining that she had heard she was being fired, CNN reported.
“When we wrapped our show for season 2 we had a photo shoot, Tamar was part of that,” Love said. “We were planning on going to Essence (Music Festival this summer in New Orleans), she was part of that so there was no indication that Tamar was going to be let go.”

Tamar, a singer, also stars on the WEtv reality series Braxton Family Values with her sisters and has her own show Tamar & Vince. When the news hit social media, many news sources reported Tamar was leaving the show to focus on her career. However, viewers noticed a change in her enthusiasm as Season 2 wrapped up.
In a post, Braxton wrote, “I am not about to be tried and tested to snitch and it’s not in good taste to tell you who…… but as #tamartians you are very smart and can figure things out on your own but know that every one who smiles in your face is NOT your friend and is NOT cheering for you and will LIE and try and tear u down to TRY and dim your light.”
