WWE News: Hardcore Legend Backstage For ‘Extreme Rules’ — Will He Interfere Tonight?
Tonight, WWE will present Extreme Rules and it’s the one night a year when superstars are allowed to pretty much do anything they wish to do. Weapons are allowed. The first-ever Asylum Match will take place. All-out brawls and battles will take place, but can it really happen without a hardcore legend on the scene? Mick Foley is backstage and in attendance for tonight’s event, but is he going to get involved in any way?
Yes, one of the most hardcore wrestlers of all time is in attendance at WWE’s extreme event, but it isn’t likely that he is going to get involved in a big way. While fans would love to see him beat someone up or deliver a hardcore shot, he’s there for a completely different reason.
Yes, Mick Foley is there with his family to film an episode of the reality show called Holy Foley, which is some new and original programming coming to the WWE Network. It was back in March that the WWE website revealed the new reality TV show would soon begin filming and that it will be a 10-episode series detailing the life of his family.
“WWE Network continues to add to its robust slate of original programming with ‘Holy Foley,’ a new series that offers viewers a comedic, behind-the-scenes look into the life of WWE Hall of Famer, husband and father Mick Foley, and his unique relationship with his daughter, Noelle. Produced by Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate, this 10-episode, 30-minute family reality series is slated to premiere in August 2016.
In ‘Holy Foley,’ real-life antics and laugh-out-loud moments will unfold as the cameras follow two generations of Foleys trying to make it in life – and at WWE.”
WrestleZone has revealed that Mick Foley isn’t the only one who is backstage at Extreme Rules for tonight. He is there with his daughter Noelle Foley and her boyfriend Frank “The Clown” Mustari along with a camera crew to film their show.
Charlotte, who is quite close with all members of the family, has posted a number of pictures with the Foley family from today.
There were rumors back before WrestleMania 32 that Mick Foley would end up getting involved in the No Holds Barred Street Fight between Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar. Foley even showed up on a Monday Night RAW leading up to the event and gave Ambrose a barbed wire covered baseball bat as a bit of a gift.
Foley never ended up getting involved in that match, but he did head to the ring with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels to take out the League of Nations at one point. It was a fun and nostalgic moment, but it likely is not going to happen again tonight.
There are a few matches or spots where Mick Foley could fit in nicely on tonight’s Extreme Rules card, but it likely won’t happen. He may appear to plug Holy Foley, but at least that is better than nothing.Currently, the final card for Extreme Rules is as follows:
- WWE World Heavyweight Title: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles – Extreme Rules
- WWE Women’s Title: Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya – Submission Match
- United States Title: Kalisto (c) vs. Rusev
- WWE Tag Team Titles: The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains
- Intercontinental Title: The Miz (c) vs. Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
- Asylum Match: Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose
- Texas Tornado Match: The Club (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) vs. The Usos
- Kickoff Show – No DQ Match: Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin
Mick Foley is done in the ring and it is very unlikely that he will ever have another match in his lifetime, but fans can dream. His involvement in a segment at WrestleMania 32 is probably the closest that he’ll ever get to wrestling again, and that’s alright as he had a great career. His presence backstage tonight at Extreme Rules is for his next life venture and that is Holy Foley, but maybe fans will be lucky enough for him to show up in the ring to get a cheap pop.
