Human Finger In 4-Year-Old Boy’s McDonald’s Happy Meal?
If one searches for the terms “McDonald’s” and “finger” on Facebook, they will see an article being shared that claims that McDonald’s is the subject of a lawsuit. That article claimed that the McDonald’s lawsuit was the result of a little boy finding a human finger in his Happy Meal. The title of the article is “4-year-old Boy Finds Human Finger in McDonald’s Happy Meal,” but the text of the article goes on to say that the boy was 3 years of age, which is one of the first clues that the article is fake.
As reported by Lead Stories, another clue that the article claiming a boy found a human finger in his Happy Meal is fake is that the article claims the Happy Meal was bought at a McDonald’s in Montpelier, Vermont. As noted by AOL, Montpelier, Vermont, is the only state capital in the U.S. that doesn’t have a McDonald’s. Montpelier also has no Burger King, reports the publication — but those craving food from McDonald’s and Burger King can travel to the close city of Berlin, Vermont, to indulge.
“The Happy Meal was purchased at a location in Montpelier, Vermont, and employees there are baffled to how something like this happened under what store management claims is a ‘tightly run ship.’ “
Montpelier missing a McDonald’s location is the next big clue that the story about the human finger is fake. The article went on to claim that the McDonald’s employees had no idea how a human finger could show up in a little boy’s Happy Meal. It claimed that a McDonald’s manager checked all of the fingers of his McDonald’s employees, and none of them were missing a finger.

The article takes the horror of a fictional scenario even further, with claims that a mother named Erica Silver discovered her son sucking on the human finger. It claims that Silver thought her son was enjoying an apple slice from his Happy Meal that was purchased via the McDonald’s drive-thru. Instead, it goes on to claim that her son was sucking on a human finger found in his Happy Meal, after eating his chicken nuggets and apple slices.
“One of the biggest fast food restaurants in the world will be facing [sic] yes another lawsuit that could potentially take a huge chunk from the their bank account. McDonald’s is under the spotlight after a 3-year-old boy discovered a human finger in his Happy Meal earlier this week.”
The little boy’s name was allegedly Mark, and the article claimed that Erica took her son to the hospital after finding the human finger in the McDonald’s Happy Meal — just to make sure that the boy was still in good health. Indeed, the published piece claimed that little Mark was fine after finding the finger in the Happy Meal and putting the severed digit in his mouth. With such a scary scenario presented, the hoax article received 15,000 likes on Facebook within a matter of hours.
“Silver’s son, Mark, was taken to the emergency room where he was checked for possible diseases or infection, and to Silver’s relief, they found no issues. McDonald’s corporation has [sic] denied comment on the matter, pending an internal investigation. Over the years, many people have claimed to find disturbing things in their McDonald’s means [sic], including teeth, band-aids, hair, bits of plastic, and even bits of trash. This marks the first time the company has been accused of letting a finger slip through the cracks and into a meal container.”
