Ariana Grande’s New Album ‘Dangerous Woman’ Tops iTunes Charts Worldwide
It turns out that all the haters who thought Ariana Grande’s career was over during the tumultuous days of the “Donutgate” scandal were mistaken. The diva is back on top of the music world in a big way following the release of her latest album, Dangerous Woman. Online celebrity news and gossip mogul Perez Hilton noted that Grande’s new release had grabbed the number one spot on iTunes in a whopping 67 countries within the first 24 hours of its release.
Perez Hilton further noted that Ariana Grande, who is skilled in the art of self-promotion, took to multiple social media platforms to thank fans and celebrate. She first talked about her success on Snapchat, sharing a screen shot of Dangerous Woman in the top spot on iTunes. Ariana then took to Instagram for a bit more bragging, posting a photo accompanied by a list of the countries in which the album is number one. This Instagram post also featured an emotional caption penned by the diva herself.
“[T]hank you so much for your overwhelmingly loving response to this album,” Ariana Grande told her 72.5 million Instagram followers. “I’m blown away and bursting with gratitude… When you work so hard on something that means so much to you and it’s met with such positivity, I don’t think there’s a word to describe how magical that feeling is.”
Although Ariana Grande was already a pop superstar before Dangerous Woman dropped, her third album is undoubtedly proving to be a boon for her career. In addition to breaking out on iTunes, Dangerous Woman is garnering some critical acclaim, as well. A review by Bustle touts the album’s big-name collaborations between Grande and platinum-selling artists including Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Macy Gray, and it also praises the depth and diversity of sounds on the singer’s new effort.
Billboard also expresses a healthy amount of cautious optimism for what seems like a new direction in Ariana Grande’s career, describing Dangerous Woman as a “stylistically eclectic affair,” apparently replete with all sorts of “realness.”“Dangerous Woman manages to blend a number of sounds and genres seamlessly within its 15 tracks. [While] the album appears to pay homage to a variety of ’90s music, the appearance of several blissfully dramatic orchestral overtures seem to only add to the experience that Grande has appeared to have cast herself within a musical film-noir of her own creation. It’s pretty perfect.”
The star watchers at Celebrity Net Worth estimate Ariana Grande’s current net worth at around $25 million, noting her successes with a variety of television roles, as well as her previous two albums, Yours Truly and My Everything. But 2015 was a rough year for the young star due to a number of well-publicized debacles, including a moment in which she was captured on film licking donuts on a store counter and talking about why she hated America. Grande also engaged in some public beefs with fellow celebs, including her ex-boyfriend, Big Sean, as well as Victoria Justice and Giuliana Rancic.
It could well be that Ariana Grande has finally figured out how to tailor her high-profile and extravagant lifestyle into a carefully cultivated public image. E! Online now hails Grande as a “feminist hero,” basing their kudos on her public opposition to sexism and body shaming. Ariana Grande has also backed fellow singer Kesha in her ongoing dispute with record producer Dr. Luke, telling fans that she will always support her “fellow women.”
