New England Patriots Rumors: Arian Foster Could Be Signed In Free Agency
The New England Patriots are always looking for ways to improve their roster and one position that could use a boost is the running back position. There are not many players available that could improve their depth chart, but there is one guy that they are showing preliminary interest in.
According to a report from Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, the Patriots have shown preliminary interest in free agent running back Arian Foster.
Source said that #Patriots interest in RB Arian Foster is "just preliminary."

At this point in time, there is no telling what kind of game Foster has left to play. He has had a lot of issues with injuries throughout his career and his season ended prematurely last year due to a torn Achilles. Foster is not back to playing form yet, which is one of the reasons that he has not received much interest on the open market so far.
Foster, when healthy, is one of the top running backs in the league. He has been a dual-threat running back throughout his career and the Patriots are always searching for that type of back.
Last season, with the Houston Texans, Foster only played in just four regular season games. He carried the football 63 times for 163 yards and a touchdown. Foster also caught 22 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns.
New England is currently working with LeGarrette Blount, Dion Lewis, James White, and Donald Brown at the running back position. They have the type of backs that they like to work with, but none that are capable of taking over a game and being a workhorse like Foster has shown the ability to do in the past.
At 29-years-old, Foster still has plenty of time to turn his career back around and a change of scenery could be a step in the right direction.Injury problems have plagued many players throughout the NFL’s history, but many players have broken out of the issues that they faced early on in their career. Taking a chance on Foster is well worth the price tag.
There is no telling what other teams will start showing interest in signing Foster this offseason. Plenty of teams could still use some help at the position, but the Patriots could be the most attractive destination for Foster. They would offer him a chance to contend for a Super Bowl appearance and would also be able to play alongside a quarterback like Tom Brady.
Looking ahead at the upcoming 2016 NFL season, there is no question that the Patriots will be one of the favorites in the AFC. Denver took a step back by losing Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler, while the Indianapolis Colts are an unknown threat.Offensively, the Patriots are going to be a juggernaut once again this season. Adding a piece like Foster to the lineup would give them even more firepower than they had last season.
Expect to hear plenty of rumors come out about Foster in the coming weeks. The market has been slow for him due to his recovery from the Achilles injury, but it will begin heating up as the season draws closer. New England is one of the first teams to have legitimate, reported interest in signing Foster, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see the two sides work something out in the near future.
Do you think that Arian Foster would be a good pickup for the New England Patriots? Would Foster be able to get his career back on track with the Patriots in 2016? Let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comment box below!
