‘Walking Dead’ Casting Spoilers For Season 7: Who Is Rogers?
Walking Dead Season 7 casting rumors are picking up steam, and there is a new character named Rogers who will debut next season, as revealed by the new casting news. Cinema Blend reported on Friday that the new character appearing early in Season 7 of The Walking Dead is Rogers. The casting news revealed him as being somewhere between his late 30s and 40s.
The description also indicates that Rogers can be of any ethnicity, will need to have experience riding on horseback, and will recur on at least three episodes. Rogers was also described as a “rugged survivor” with no patience for nonsense. This character will appear for the first time on the third episode of The Walking Dead’s seventh season.
Most of the chat about The Walking Dead rumors has surrounded who died at the hands of Negan’s beloved barbed-wire bat Lucille. This new Walking Dead casting news gives fans something fresh that they can ponder to take their mind off the stressful consideration of which character the show has killed off.
Interestingly, the new character of Rogers was also described as someone who had lost loved ones and blames himself. He is determined not to lose anyone else close to him. That sounds a lot like Abraham’s past history as well, and Abraham is one of the odds-on favorites to be the victim of Negan’s bat. If this character shares such close similarities to Abraham, that could hint at the recently deceased character.
Much like Daryl, there are no characters in the comic books named Rogers. This could mean that this is a new and original character for the TV show, or it could be a false name given to keep the reveal of a comic book character a surprise for fans. This wouldn’t be the first time that Walking Dead casting rumors have used fake names to protect spoilers.

Since this is coming up in the third episode, there is a good chance that this new character is one of two groups. The first is Negan’s Saviors, which could mean a number of things. Negan has a number of loyal followers, which would make Rogers’ loyalty a problem for Rick and company. There are also people involved with the Saviors who don’t necessarily believe in Negan’s vision and join up with Rick in the comics.
The second option is Ezekiel’s Kingdom, which, for those who have not read the comics, are the home of the men who saved Carol and Morgan in the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead. If the new Waking Dead casting rumors have Rogers as part of Ezekiel’s Kingdom, it is a huge positive for the heroes, as Ezekiel becomes a strong ally. It could also bring in Ezekiel and his tiger Shiva sooner rather than later.
That is about all that is known regarding the Walking Dead casting rumors for Rogers. The new season will launch in October. Of the new characters on the next season, the biggest is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan. He finally made his long-awaited appearance in the finale, and his appearance resulted in that mysterious cliffhanger death.

Other casting rumors for The Walking Dead that fans will want to keep up with is King Ezekiel, and Cinema Blend previously reported that showrunner Scott Gimple has made it clear that he likes the idea of using the tiger Shiva as well. Other members of the Kingdom should be on the way as well as new important members from the Hilltop Colony that was introduced last season, including the yet-to-be-introduced Earl.
Then, there are the members of the Saviors. Mark still has to show up, as well as Carson and David, so there are a lot of Walking Dead casting rumors that should keep us entertained throughout the summer.
