‘Star Trek’ Trailer Released As Museum Honors 50 Years Of TV For Enterprise Crew
CBS released its first teaser for the new Star Trek series this week as a Seattle museum prepared to open an exhibit honoring the crew of the USS Enterprise and their 50 years on television.
Although the new CBS trailer shows off exactly zero new Star Trek footage, fans of the popular sci-fi show eagerly snatched up the 50 seconds of CGI action sequences.
“New Crews, New Villains, New Heroes, New Worlds.”
CBS plans for Star Trek to anchor its new All Access digital platform featuring on demand and live-streaming service, network president Les Moonves told Wired.
“You didn’t think we were going to show you the cast, did you?”
Although CBS is keeping details secret for now, several entertainment rumors point to an anthology style show with each season set in a different point in the Star Trek timeline, much like American Horror Story.
Meanwhile, Seattle’s EMP Museum prepared to open its exhibition “Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds” this Saturday in honor of the show’s 50 years on television boldly going where no one has gone before.

The exhibit features uniforms worn by every Enterprise captain, one of the original two phasers still in existence, tribbles, and more than 100 other props and artifacts from the hugely popular show.
The show is being honored for its huge influence on the popular culture of the time and the number of stereotypes it helped break down, according to ABC News. Star Trek televised the world’s first interracial kiss in 1968, between Kirk and Uhura; featured a Russian character during the Cold War and tackled what it meant to be human.
“The museum does its best to illustrate how Star Trek was both a reflection of its times and a catalyst for social change.”

With the next movie in the franchise, Star Trek Beyond, due out in theaters in July, fans are already wondering how the new CBS series will fit into the world created by J.J. Abrams.
There are several options for the new series to take, but fans of the hugely popular sci-fi show can breathe easy as CBS has opted to retain several Star Trek veterans to help produce its new show.

Experienced Star Trek writer Bryan Fuller co-created the new show and will serve as executive producer, while Nicholas Meyer who wrote and directed Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country will help write and produce.
Also on board are Alex Kurtzman, co-writer of the 2009 movie Star Trek, and Gene Roddenberry’s son, Eugene Roddenberry, who will both serve as executive producers of the new CBS show.
Although the first episode will air on standard CBS broadcast television in January, 2017, viewers will have to sign up for CBS All Access to continue watching the new Star Trek series online with a monthly subscription.

For those diehard sci-fi fans who can’t wait until January of next year to see their favorite characters in action, the USS Intrepid will play host to the “Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy Experience” in New York this summer.
The U.S. Navy vessel that helped recover astronauts from both the Mercury and Gemini space missions will allow Star Fleet cadets to train in nine zones of Academy training between July 9 and Halloween, reports Trek Today.
