Koch Brothers Target Of New Ad Centering On Shadowy Money, Super PACs

The Koch brothers are not often referred to outside politically liberal groups and organizations, but, to hear many tell it, they’re destroying democracy covertly, buying up politicians and funding everything from a number of shadowy super PACs to the Tea Party itself through said shadowy super PACs with cheery sounding names like “Americans For Prosperity” and “Freedom Works.”

Those who disagree with the Koch brothers’ political thrust — essentially a Libertarian, free-market outlook that manifests itself in a massive number of donations funneled into political action networks that oppose things like single-payer healthcare and the notion of climate change — say the “Kochtopus” is decaying democracy and is the worst sort of crony capitalism.

Koch brothers fans say the pair, David and Charles, are active philanthropists and entitled to spend their vast wealth in part on advancing the political causes in which they believe. After all, it’s a free country, right?

So influential are the Koch brothers and their cheddar that a new campaign ad targets the pair and their “greed agenda,” citing a number of ways the secretive Koch brothers are working to make America an even less friendly place for the middle class.

The Koch brothers are described in the ad as sort of Monopoly-style villains, with an agenda that includes “politicians who will pass laws that benefit special interests, but hurt the middle class. More tax cuts for the rich. Eliminate the minimum wage. Big cuts to our schools, but big subsidies for oil companies. Tax breaks for corporations that ship our jobs overseas.”
