What Will Britney Spears Perform At The 2016 Billboard Music Awards? Get A Sneak Peek At Her Set List!
The Billboard Music Awards previously revealed that Britney Spears is set to perform a “medley of hits” when she makes her big return to the stage at the award show on May 22, and now it looks like we could know which of her hits she’ll be performing.
Hollywood Life reported that blogger Perez Hilton posted what he claimed to be Britney’s Billboard Music Awards set list on Instagram on May 18, along with a list of Britney’s dancers and notes that revealed Spears will be making use of props like smoke, pyrotechnics, and lasers.
Captioning the photo “Yassss, b****!” alongside the hashtags #Godney and #BBMAs, Perez’s Instagram post alleged that Spears will be combining six hits into her medley, which includes some tracks that may come as a surprise to Britney’s biggest fans.
If Perez’s snap is accurate, Spears will kick-off the 2016 Billboard Music Awards with the 2013 single “Work B***,” which will then lead into the lead single from Britney’s 2008 album Circus, “Womanizer.”
Spears will then launch into a snippet of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” before incorporating a pretty surprising choice, “Breathe On Me,” which was never officially released as a single but is featured on Spears’ 2003 release In the Zone.
Britney will then continue her set with the more recognizable “I’m A Slave 4 U,” followed by yet another In the Zone album track titled “The Touch Of My Hand.”
Perez’s Instagram post then revealed that Spears will close out her performance with one of her biggest hits, “Toxic,” before Britney is officially presented with Billboard’s Millennium Award at the big music award show.
Britney Spears and her team have yet to confirm if Perez’s leaked setlist is accurate, but if the report is to be believed, a number of Britney’s earlier hits, including what are widely regarded to be Spears signature songs, “Baby One More Time” and “Oops! I Did It Again,” are both notably missing.Britney fans will have to wait until the 2016 Billboard Music Awards air live on ABC on May 22 to see what Spears really does perform, but it’s thought that Spears’ Billboard setlist was originally expected to include Britney’s rumored new single, “Make Me (Oooh).”
However, the Las Vegas Sun is now reporting that Spears’ alleged new music has hit a bump in the road and will now not be released into the world until the summer.
The site previously claimed that Spears’ new single was expected this week to coincide with Britney’s 2016 Billboard Music Awards performance, however, the Las Vegas Sun is now claiming that “production difficulties outside Brit and her management’s control have caused a delay,” meaning that the release has been pushed back by several weeks.
“There’s no point in Britney previewing it so far in advance if we don’t even have a new release date yet,” an insider close to Britney said of Spears’ rumored new single this week. “She is, like us, truly saddened that matters outside our hands have set back the hoped-for schedule.”
The source claimed that Spears’ lead single from her ninth studio album will instead come “later in the summer” but does not have an official release date just yet.
But despite the apparent snag, Spears has been taking to Instagram in recent days to share her excitement for her big performance, marking the first time Britney has performed on a big award show since she took the stage with Iggy Azalea to perform “Pretty Girls” at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
“Another hot day at rehearsals! Whoop whoop! #BBMAs,” Spears captioned a snap of herself and her dancers on May 18, which came just days after Britney posted another photo of herself and her dance crew, which she captioned, “Great rehearsals! #BBMAs.”
What do you think of Britney Spears’ alleged setlist for her 2016 Billboard Music Awards performance? Are you disappointed that Britney likely won’t be debuting her new single?
