WWE Rumors: Fans Are Going To Absolutely Hate The ‘SummerSlam’ Main Event That WWE Has Planned
WWE is already making plans for the coming months, and some of the tentative ideas for SummerSlam in August are already being cemented in place. There is a rumor going around right now that the main event for the big end-of-the-summer spectacular is already set in stone, and fans are not going to be very happy with it. It appears as if Roman Reigns will hold onto the WWE World Heavyweight Title and will defend it against John Cena.
Cena did appear at WrestleMania 32, but it was only for a brief cameo segment with The Rock and nothing more. Now, he’s ready to be back, and it’s only a matter of time until he is on Monday Night Raw again as the WWE website recently revealed.
They said the surgery recovery time is 9 months, but I’m ready to go in 5. This #MemorialDay Cena is back on #Raw. #NeverGiveUp

No one really knows what WWE’s plans are for Cena upon his return in less than two weeks, but it will likely be something pretty big. Interestingly enough, though, Cageside Seats is reporting that the company has something even bigger planned for him at the end of the summer.
Apparently, there are talks already happening about a headlining match for SummerSlam that will pit Roman Reigns against John Cena. It’s likely just in the early stages of development, but it is possible to happen.
With Cena officially returning from injury very soon, he will be ready to go for the next of WWE’s major pay-per-view events, and the company will want him in the spotlight.
Roman Reigns is currently in a feud with AJ Styles that is expected to come to an end this Sunday after their match at Extreme Rules. From that point on, both will be going their separate ways and moving on to new programs that have nothing to do with one another.
Reigns could end up biding his time for a week after this Sunday’s event and then starting up something with Cena upon his return on Memorial Day. If that is the case, then it is quite possible that Reigns will hold onto the WWE World Heavyweight Title through the next few months and put it on the line against Cena at SummerSlam.
That would make the match not only one of the headliners but probably the main event, according to Sportsrageous.
John Cena isn’t going to be turned heel here, and everyone pretty much knows it. There is a very good possibility that WWE finally goes through with a heel turn for Roman Reigns, as it will be needed for a feud with the face of the company.
No matter what, the fans are going to boo this match out of the building if it happens at SummerSlam or really at any time at all. Since the long-time wrestling fans outnumber the casual fans, their voice will be heard louder than any others.
Putting John Cena and Roman Reigns in the ring together means that voice will be nothing but booing or crowd chants against both competitors.
There is a huge possibility that this match could be changed or is just rumored at this time and won’t happen at SummerSlam. Then again, WWE may want to get John Cena back into the title picture and see how Roman Reigns does against him on a big stage. If this is the main event that the company ends up going with, then they may have to figure out how to drown out the massive amount of boos being heard on TV at home.
