‘The Vampire Diaries’: How Will Bonnie Handle Damon And Enzo’s Situation In Season 8? [Spoilers]
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 does not have a premiere date yet. However, the show is expected to air on The CW network in fall 2016. On the season finale of TVD, titled “Gods & Monsters,” fans were left with one heck of a cliffhanger. Not much is known about the upcoming season, but some tiny crumbs were scattered by creator Julie Plec. What can viewers expect from Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham), and how will she handle Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo’s (Michael Malarkey) situation in Season 8?
Warning: Spoilers for The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale are below. Do not continue reading if you have not yet seen “Gods & Monsters.”
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, last season of The Vampire Diaries was all about saving Bonnie from death. Damon, the most determined vampire in history, did everything in his power to make sure Bonnie lived. Well, he succeeded, but he placed Bonnie under a curse at the same time. Rayna Cruz (Leslie-Anne Huff) had some fine print in her deal with Damon Salvatore. Not only did Bonnie receive Rayna’s last life, but she also became the new vampire huntress. This meant that Damon and all of his friends were Bonnie’s targets, as she struggled to fight the urge to kill them all.
On the Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries, Damon saved Bonnie from the curse but unleashed something ancient, powerful, and evil. The monster in the vault used Damon’s love for Elena to lure him in. Once close enough, the creature seemed to possess Damon or take control of his mind somehow. Later, Enzo went through the same thing. Viewers didn’t have the opportunity to see the creature – except for one very terrifying hand – but it is unlike any entity TVD fans have ever seen on the show.
Fast forward six months later, and 60 people have gone missing along the West coast. Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), Caroline Forbes (Candice King), and Bonnie Bennett realize that Damon and Enzo are behind the disappearances. However, Bonnie lost her magic, which means she can’t do any locator spells. Unless they find another witch to help, Damon and Enzo will have to be tracked the old-fashioned way.
Viewers also got an opportunity to see what Damon and Enzo are doing. The two possessed vampires were hanging dozens of bodies upside down in a warehouse and didn’t appear to be slowing down their killing spree anytime soon. Where are they, can they be stopped and are the creature’s effects on Damon and Enzo permanent?

Those questions won’t be answered until Season 8, according to TV Line. However, the show’s creator did talk about Bonnie Bennett. Some fans wondered if Bonnie would feel guilty over Damon and Enzo’s situation. Even though what happened was not her fault, it is understandable if Bonnie felt a little bit responsible.
“I don’t think she should feel guilt. All these predicaments—the circumstance is so out of her control, and she did everything that she could to fight it, so I don’t want to see her wallowing in any kind of guilt,” Julie Plec told E! News. “I do, however, think she is in a terrible emotional place, because two of the people she loves most in the world are in a bad spot, and she doesn’t have the equipment to fix them or to help them. It’s going to be tough for her to get through the next chapter.”

What do you think will happen with Bonnie in The Vampire Diaries Season 8? Can Damon and Enzo be found? Is there any way to stop the creature’s effect on its victims? How will the TVD characters get out of this mess when the show returns this fall?
