Stunning In Cannes: Kristen Stewart, Alicia Cargile Hold Hands On Red Carpet Fueling Rumors Of Rekindled Romance
Kristen Stewart looked stunning in Chanel on the red carpet in Cannes, but the Twilight star wasn’t only stared at for her amazing dress.
It’s been two weeks since Kristen and Soko broke up, which the Inquisitr reported on, and already the 26-year-old is seen holding hands in public with another girlfriend – immediately sparking rumors of a possible rekindled relationship.
The friend in question is none else than Alicia Cargile, her former personal assistant, with whom Kristen was rumored to have an on-off relationship last year.
So what does this all mean? Well, Kristen isn’t one to publicly announce her relationship statuses, but neither did she try to hide the fact that she was pretty close to Cargile during their red carpet walk.
Girlfriend or not?
The pair was pictured holding hands and teasing photographers at the premiere of American Honey on Sunday, and the two women were seen together again the next day.
Kristen, who isn’t in the habit of faking happiness just to please onlookers, seemed relaxed and in great spirits as she waved, smiled, and teased journalists and photographers. Kristen, who is starring in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society alongside Blake Lively and Jesse Eisenberg, was sporting her newly bleached blonde hair. She looked fantastic, associating her messy curls with a sober gothic look. Accessorized by fashion house Chanel, Kristen walked alongside Alicia who was sporting a chic tuxedo.
It’s not the first time Kristen and Alicia are pictured together and rumored to be romantically involved, although the pair has never officialized their relationship. Kristen has famously spoken out against labels and defining sexuality.
“Google me, I’m not hiding,” she told Nylon magazine in September 2015. “But I am an actress, man. I live in the f***ing ambiguity of this life and I love it. I don’t feel like it would be true for me to be like, ‘I’m coming out!’ No, I do a job.”
She added that soon, it wouldn’t be as necessary to define and label sexualities.
“I think in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight. It’s like, just do your thing.”
Kristen may be in a new phase of self-discovery, which, according to Design & Trend, is the reason she dyed her hair blonde. The actress-turned-director told People she had never changed her appearance and decided to “f**k up [her] hair.”
Kristen may be entering a new phase after her heavily-publicized split from ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson two years ago. The star, who’s kept her private life to herself since then, has been reconnecting with old friends and accompanied Jodie Foster to her Walk of Fame ceremony in Hollywood last week.
Jodie and Kristen, who starred in Panic Room together in 2002 when Kristen was only 11, have remained close friends and Jodie only has good words for her co-star. The Spec reports that the 53-year-old was moved at the speech Kristen gave in her honor when she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“That was the unexpectedly great part of it, really, reconnecting with Kristen,” Foster said. “There was something really emotional about it, because on Panic Room she was that little 10-year-old girl who I just loved so much.”
Jodie has always been very supportive of Kristen and says she feels very protective towards her.
Kristen is also in Cannes for another film, Personal Shopper, by French director Olivier Assayas, with whom she had already worked on Clouds of Sils Maria. Although the film was booed at the festival, many critics seem unanimous in welcoming the supernatural-psychological-drama as a great success and possibly Kristen’s best film to date, according to Peter Bradshaw in the Guardian.
