Liam Payne and Cheryl Attend Cannes Events–But Is Their Relationship In Trouble?
Last week, the world was wowed by adorable and romantic relationship between One Direction’s Liam Payne and his girlfriend, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. But is there trouble in paradise?
“The former X Factor judge looked happier than we’ve seen her in months and we couldn’t help but think of how far she’s come,” Mirror reported.

Her marriage to Jean-Bernard was short-lived but drama-packed. The couple had been plagued by the media after they hadn’t been seen together in weeks. While she seems to be in a much better place now, Cheryl has definitely experienced some tough times recently, as Mirror confirms.
“Just months ago, the former Girls Aloud singer [looked] miserable as her marriage to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini broke down. During the couple’s short marriage – they wed in a secret ceremony in 2014 before splitting two years later – there were plenty of reports of arguments and ‘language barriers’, which supposedly led to their split. And fans of the singer were quick to comment on her slimmed down physique during the difficult times.”
Although the couple seems to be a sweet–yet unlikely–match, could the popular pair be having some relationship trouble?
A body language expert stated that the two are just trying to figure out how to “behave in public,” but is that all?
“They showed all the signs of being totally loved-up as they hit the red carpet together,” Mirror explained on Friday. “But it looks like Cheryl wasn’t in the mood for putting on an amorous display as she appeared in Cannes with boyfriend Liam Payne last night. Fight For This Love singer Cheryl appeared to turn the other cheek as the One Direction star leaned in for a kiss. Liam covered up any disappointment by letting out a giggle and turning towards the cameras with a big grin. What a pro.”

Independent reported that the night “wasn’t free of drama,” which might have contributed to the singer’s spurning of her beau’s kiss.
“Her estranged husband, [to] whom she was married to for 18 months before splitting in October, [was] also in town celebrating the launch of his new pop-up restaurant Cosy Box.”
The news source said that an insider provided information on Cheryl and Jean-Bernard’s rocky relationship.
“Cheryl would have loved to have skipped Cannes this year but her work schedule wouldn’t permit it. She will be doing everything she can to avoid [Jean-Bernard].”
Belfast Telegraph suggested that there might be something sketchy going on between Cheryl and her One Direction boyfriend, since she showed up to the Cannes Red Carpet without Liam.
Overall, however, the two seem pretty steady.
After attending various events together in Paris, Cheryl and Liam enjoyed many relaxing moments–and Cheryl even indulged in a feast, to which her Instagram account testifies.
On top of the adorable side of their relationship (as seen through the eyes of the media), Liam’s and Cheryl’s fans show their support via sites like Twitter, where many people encourage the couple despite their age difference.
