Rory Feek Shares Sweet Video Of Indy Walking, Spending Time With Big Sisters

Rory Feek recently shared with his fans a conversation he had with Joey after she learned her cervical cancer was terminal. Rory notes that he is a veteran when it comes to raising girls as a single father. Rory raised his two daughters Heidi and Hopie on his own and was ecstatic when Joey entered his life and took over the role as mother. Joey was aware of the difficulties of raising a child as a single father and hoped to be the other half to Rory’s situation. Therefore, when Joey learned her cervical cancer was going to take her life, she wept. She cried not because she was dying, but because Joey would once again be left to raise a child alone.

On Mother’s Day, Rory Feek shared an intimate blog post about a conversation he had with Joey before she passed away. Rory recalled how Joey cried over the fact that Joey would be left to raise Indy alone as a single father.

“She cried because Indy was going to lose her mama, and I was going to be a single father again. Joey knew how hard it had been for us for all those years before she came along and she was upset that she was going to leave me in the same situation. I remember her tears falling and her saying, ‘I don’t want you to have to raise a child again by yourself… it’s not fair’.”

However, Rory reassured Joey that everything would be okay and that he, along with the help of God, would raise Indy to the best of his ability. In fact, Rory notes that his experience as a single father may be one of the many reasons God picked him to be Joey’s husband.

After Joey Feek’s passing, Rory has taken on the role of single father once more. He continues to share memories of Joey with her followers while doing his best to ensure that Indy has the best life possible. Fortunately, it seems that Rory isn’t doing everything on his own. Rory has been receiving a lot of help from his two adult daughters, Heidi and Hopie. The pair are frequently seen spending time with Indy and babysitting when Rory has engagements to attend.

Heidi and Hopie spent time with their little sister while Rory attended a film viewing. Numerous photos shared to Rory’s Instagram account show Heidi and Hopie spending time with Indy and their father. From Saturday morning breakfasts at Heidi’s house to wearing matching outfits with Hopie, Indy seems to be getting a lot of big sister time.

Rory also took to Instagram to share images and video of Indy walking with the help of a walker during therapy. Indy can be seen moving around the therapy room with the help of the customized walker, quickly making her way to a doll being held by one of the therapists.

Even without the walker, Rory definitely has his hands full. Indy seems highly motivated to become mobile and is seen scooting around the floor on a toy riding car and attempting to walk on her own with the help of sister Heidi.

Although Rory is embracing fatherhood without Joey by his side, he notes that Joey will always be Indy mother and a mother to Heidi and Hopie for that matter.

“Though my beautiful wife sleeps in a bed of clover behind our farmhouse, we still celebrate her on this special day and lift her up and give her flowers. This is not my day. It is hers. Joey loved being a mother more than anything else in the world. And she is still Indy’s mama. And Heidi’s and Hopie’s.”
