Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has gone nude again. The fourth episode of the popular HBO series had a few surprises, but the biggest one was definitely Clarke’s character, Daenerys Targaryen, reminding the world once again why she has the moniker of the unburnt. As the holy temple of Vaes Dothrak burns down, the khaleesi walks out of the fire unburned and completely unclothed.
Twitter has gone absolutely berserk following tonight’s episode.

The scene kicks off at Vaes Dothrak, where Daenerys’s fate is to be determined. She offers the Khals a change to join or, but when they disagree, she sets the whole place to flames. As the Khals burn to ashes, Daenerys walks out of the fire, unharmed except for her clothes; much like in the final episode of the first season. And as she walks out of the flame, she stands naked in front of the whole khalasar, who immediately recognize her supernatural powers and kneel to her.
While only a few if any might have expected this to be Daenerys’s way of escaping Vaes Dothrak, her appearing naked is another surprise to Game of Thrones fans.
Nudity and sex scenes are infamously common in HBO’s TV shows. The network has never shied from showing some skin in all of its popular TV shows, be it The Sopranos , Rome , or Game of Thrones , to name a few. And any Game of Thrones fan knows that this isn’t the first time Emilia Clarke’s character has exposed her body. Daenerys has had nude scenes all the way back from Season 1 and did so with no objections for the first three seasons of the show. However, after Season 3 Emilia Clarke, who plays the mother of dragons, refused to expose her bare body in front of the camera, thus adding a non-nudity clause in her contract.
She is not the only star on Game of Thronesto have such a contract. Michelle Fairley, who played Catelyn Stark in the first three seasons of the show, had a similar clause. So does Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister. She had famously used a body double for her walk of shame scene in the final episode of last season.
But the Mother of Dragons used no body double. Emilia Clarke spoke with Entertainment Weekly about doing another nude scene after a long break and in doing so confirmed that the nude woman who emerges from the Temple of the Dosh Khaleen is actually her and not a body double.
“I’d like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season 3. That was a while ago. It’s now season 6. But this is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy. That ain’t no body double!”
Rumors suggested that Emilia Clarke has been uncomfortable filming nude and sex scenes. Last year, a tabloid report claimed that Clarke has told them that she didn’t like doing sex scenes, an allegation which Clarke corrected via her Instagram.

“It’s difficult to be misquoted and it’s nice to have something like Instagram to say the truth,” Clarke said. “How many times has Michiel Huisman [the actors who plays Daario] been asked about the fact his nude scenes in the tv show? Is that even a discussion? No. So I’m doing it this year and people can talk about it and I’m ready to answer any questions about it, basically.”
