Like Mother, Like Daughter: Angelina Jolie’s Four-Year-Old To Debut In ‘Maleficent’
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 4-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie, is set to appear in Disney’s forthcoming dark take on Sleeping Beauty: Maleficent.
It will be a small supporting role — well, it couldn’t be anything else — but the 4-year-old will play a bitsy role as the young Princess Aurora in the film.
Famously pictured earlier this year as the splendidly horned Queen Maleficent, Jolie is expected to turn in a terrifying performance as the evil queen who eventually curses Aurora and turns her into Sleeping Beauty. The grown-up Princess will be played by Elle Fanning (sister of Dakota).
The film will be a prequel to the original, beloved 1959 Disney version and will explore why Queen Maleficent “hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.”
Earlier this year, Jolie told Entertainment Weekly,
“It’s a really great script. I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve already got my horns fitted.”
While Jolie and not-yet-husband Brad Pitt have never acted with any of their six children on screen before, there is precedent. Jolie made her acting debut at the age of 7 alongside her father, Jon Voight, in Lookin’ to Get Out (1982).
The film will be helmed by Robert Stromberg making his directorial debut. Production on the film began in London in June. Maleficent stars Sharlto Copley (District 9), Fanning, Juno Temple, and Imelda Staunton and hits theaters March 14, 2014.
Wonder what Vivienne’s twin Knox thinks of it all?
