‘The Vampire Diaries’: How Will Bonnie Handle Damon, Enzo And The ‘Monsterous’ Situation In Season 8?
The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale ended with Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) being saved. However, it also had Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) encountering a monster. Both Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) became possessed by this creature, which set up the storyline for Season 8 of TVD. So, what can fans expect from the characters when the series returns to The CW?
The Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries was titled “Gods & Monsters.” In a final attempt to save Bonnie, Damon had to enter the Armory and get inside the Vault. From there, Damon found the final Everlasting and set the preserved body on fire. Almost instantly, Bonnie was set free from the vampire huntress’ spell.
However, there was a problem. Before leaving the Vault, Damon heard Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) voice. As previously speculated by the Inquisitr, the voice wasn’t actually coming from Elena. It was a trick the monster had used before, but the Salvatore brother was not prepared for it. By the end of “Gods & Monsters,” the creature possessed Damon and Enzo, which had the two characters killing dozens of people.

So, what information is known about The Vampire Diaries Season 8? Are Damon and Enzo gone for good, or is there still a piece of themselves in their bodies? How will Bonnie handle losing two people she cared about, who became possessed in an effort to save her?
“Bonnie, out of everybody, is the one who’s going to be just paralyzed by this struggle. She has two men in her life — Damon, who’s a platonic, but also deep, soulful best friend, and Enzo, who has really become her one true love — and she lost both of them in one fell swoop,” Julie Plec teased to TV Line regarding Bonnie’s storyline in Season 8. “In addition to that, she also lost her magic. She’s starting at an absolute deficit in terms of being able to fix this problem. That’s going to have a great impact on her.”
While TVD fans are relieved that Bonnie is fine, it is a bit upsetting to hear she will go through another horrible ordeal. However, Bonnie is resilient and strong. If anyone is able to get through this, she can. The only concern is how much Bonnie has lost in such a short amount of time. Her best friend sacrificed everything to save her and Enzo is missing. She has even lost her magic. What makes this even worse is the guilt Bonnie will probably feel, even though it isn’t her fault.
As for Season 8, the main focal points will be the monstrous creature, as well as the search for Damon and Enzo. The two vampires were possessed by this entity and seem to be 100 percent evil. If they are found, can Damon and Enzo be brought back to their normal selves?

“Yeah, we very purposefully teased up a question about this vault and what’s inside it at the very end of this season knowing that the answer would actually take us into and be revealed next season,” Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly about the Season 7 finale. “It’s a nice little head scratcher of a mystery that I won’t even say gets resolved before this season’s over, so it’s definitely something that brings us back next year.”
As for the monster, what exactly is it? Unfortunately, Julie Plec told TV Line that she could not reveal what they were calling the creature. However, the executive producer did tease that it has been around for thousands of years, can get inside people’s heads, and sucks away everything good about an individual. Viewers didn’t get to see the monster on TVD, but its creepy hands were horrifying.
Brian Young, co-executive producer and writer of the season finale also gave one more hint about the monster in the Vault. Over the years, different villains have surfaced in TVD. However, this entity is nothing like the vampires, witches, or werewolves that the characters have previously encountered.

“We’ve never really seen a CGI creature in The Vampire Diaries before,” Brian Young told TV Guide regarding the monster in the Vault. “We’ve done a lot of iterations of a lot of different kinds of villains, so we wanted to do something a little different and see how it plays out.”
What do you think will happen with Bonnie in Season 8 of TVD? How will she handle losing Damon and Enzo? Is there any hope for the two characters in The Vampire Diaries?
