Kim Kardashian Uses Atkins Diet To Reach 135-Pound Goal Weight, Posts Snapchat Photo

Kim Kardashian has been taking viewers on her weight loss journey ever since having her second child, Saint West. On a recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim was shown getting ready for Kanye West’s big fashion show in Madison Square Garden, which represented one of the first times Kardashian would be seen in public post-baby.

During that show, Kim reportedly told Kanye that she wasn’t ready to show her knees, as West played around with the dress Kim was wearing, as Kanye dressed the entire family for the big event. Kim was also seen sporting a blonde wig, and stating that she was wearing the blonde wig in order to take attention away from her weight. Kardashian quipped with her sister that some folks would think Kardashian actually dyed her hair blonde again. Kardashian reportedly joked that black people would realize she was wearing a wig.

Now, folks are celebrating with Kim as she is celebrating getting back to her pre-baby weight. As reported by E!, Kim turned to Snapchat to post a photo of Kardashian’s current weight of 135.8 pounds. Showing Kim’s feet standing on the scale, with a delicate peach or pinkish color on her toenails, the photo came with a caption that showed Kim’s devotion to the Atkins diet.

With Kim giving so much attention to the Atkins diet, folks are likely wondering about the exact details of the Atkins diet. Years ago, the Atkins diet featured lots of loading up on protein such as meats and eggs, but it has evolved over the years. Kim fell in love with the Atkins diet after Kardashian watched her late father, Robert Kardashian, lose weight with the Atkins diet.

For those reasons, Kim found it easier to turn to the Atkins diet to help her lose weight after having both of her children. According to the Atkins diet website, the eating plan takes into account each individual person’s make-up in order to determine how they respond to food and losing weight and adopts the best option for their particular bodies.

“Not everyone’s body responds the same way to different approaches to losing weight. The key is to find a match for your body and metabolism. Dr. Atkins, a well-known cardiologist, limited his patients’ intake of sugar and carbohydrates. As a result, many of his patients successfully lost weight and kept it off – even though they had previously been unsuccessful on regular low-calorie diets!

“The key was understanding that everyone’s metabolism can use two different types of fuel for energy – either sugar (and carbs that are quickly turned into sugar by the body), or fat. But the type of fuel you burn can have a big difference in losing or maintaining weight. A typical diet reduces calories, but is still high in carbohydrates (and thus sugar). As a result, many people constantly cycle between sugar “highs” (where excess sugar is actually stored as fat in the body) and sugar “lows” (where you feel fatigued and ravenously hungry – for more carbs and sugar). For many, it’s really hard to lose weight that way.”

As such, the Atkins diet restricted some sugary carbohydrates to make the body burn more fat for fuel, resulting in weight loss.

Kim had previously posted a photo showing her weight at 139.6 pounds, only a few pounds away from her pre-baby weight. Along with the Atkins diet principles, Kardashian also performed workouts at the gym to get rid of her baby fat. Kardashian eschewed fatty foods like mac ‘n cheese and chose salads in their place.

It was Kim’s goal to use the Atkins diet to hit her goal weight by the time the 2016 Met Gala rolled around. Therefore, sticking to the Atkins diet helped Kardashian take off the 52 pounds of pregnancy weight that Kim had gained.
