Lauryn Hill Turns Down Oprah’s Request For Interview

No one says no to Oprah! Well, Lauryn Hill does. At least she did in response to Winfrey’s request for an interview.

R&B star Lauryn Hill is still staring down the IRS over charges of tax evasion, and she’s not likely to talk about her troubles anytime soon, least of all with Oprah Winfrey, reports MSN. Despite being reached out to for a hot-seat interview with Oprah, Hill turned down the opportunity to potentially clear the air surrounding her scandal-filled celebrity star.

Former Fugees singer and eight-time Grammy Award winner Hill is looking at a maximum of three years in jail after pleading guilty to charges that she did not file tax returns from 2005 to 2007, reports the Huffington Post. Since then, Hill has removed herself from the public eye, and the closest thing to an explanation offered for her tax evasions and public absence was a bizarre blog post on her Tumblr account, which read, in part:

“For the past several years, I have remained what others would consider underground. I did this in order to build a community of people, like-minded in their desire for freedom and the right to pursue their goals and lives without being manipulated and controlled by a media protected military industrial complex with a completely different agenda.”

Whatever that means, we won’t be finding out on Oprah.
