Avril Lavigne Engaged To Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger
It’s a match made in music hell. Avril Lavigne recently got engaged to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger.
A rep for the 27-year-old singer confirmed the news to Access Hollywood.
People Magazine reports that Kroeger, 37, asked Lavigne, 27, to marry him on August 8 with a 14-carat diamond ring.
A source told the magazine:
“He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited.”
The news may come as a surprise to Lavigne fans. The singer was recently linked to Brody Jenner, and last month she was spotted getting close with a female friend.
US Magazine reports that Kroeger and Lavigne met earlier this year when the Nickelback singer was called in to record a few songs for Lavigne’s new album.
Kroeger told K104.7 in April:
“Things just clicked real quick. We were just gonna [collaborate on a] couple of tunes… And then she wanted me to sing on one of them and then we just started flying on all these different songs.”
Avril may be 10 years younger than her new fiance, but it’s Lavigne who already has a marriage under her belt. Avril was previously married to Deryck Whibley of Sum 41. The two divorced in 2009. This is Chad Kroeger’s first marriage.
