BTS To Appear As Special Guests On 300th Special Episode Of ‘Running Man’
With the release of their third mini-album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever, along with the booming popularity of its title song “Fire,” BTS — also known as Bangtan Boys or Bulletproof Boy Scouts — is the boy group the K-pop community is talking about. Backed by numerous accolades and accomplishments attained this year alone, such as being the most retweeted musical artist on Twitter back in March, and coming in at number one on the iTunes music video chart, BTS is leading the way.
Such popularity does equate to more exposure for BTS, especially when shows specifically request them to be a guest. Case and point: BTS will be the upcoming guest on Running Man. However, BTS won’t be on just any episode of the popular variety show, but on its 300th Episode Special.
The news broke out of BTS’ participation on Running Man when the latter’s official Instagram posted the following post, as reported by SBS Pop Asia. As shown below, the Running Man cast, dressed in pink, are shown standing next to the members of BTS, dressed in black.
The International Business Times followed-up on the initial post and provided more information on the upcoming 300th Episode Special. The Running Man production crew made it known that BTS will be competing against the Running Man cast to accomplish fun activities and missions related to the number “300.” The production crew also provided short videos of the filming taking place through Twitter. In one video, it seems that BTS and the Running Man cast are participating in the popular Nametag Game.

Besides their upcoming appearance on the 300th Episode Special of Running Man, BTS has been busy with promotions for The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever. Currently, they are on tour. Their first live show was successfully performed over the first weekend of May at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea. Their next performance will take place in Macau at Studio City Event Centre on June 18.
As for Running Man, it may be sad but it seems they need to have big name guests on their show these days. Over the years, viewership ratings for the variety show have gradually decreased. A lot of viewers believe the reason for the decline is that the production crew are running out of ideas for the show often finds themselves repeating past games. They also believe Running Man has strayed heavily away from its original format which made it such a popular show in the first place. If ratings for Running Man continue to teeter on an average of 5 percent, the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) might have no choice but to cancel or replace the variety show with something fresh.
The 300th Episode Special of Running Man featuring BTS will air on Sunday, May 22, at 6:25 p.m. KST on SBS. For those who do not have access to Korean channels, Running Man can be viewed for free, with ads, on both DramaFever and Viki pending region.
