Jennifer Lawrence On Ex-Boyfriend Nicholas Hoult And What He Hated During Their Relationship
Jennifer Lawrence isn’t one to talk about past relationships, but recently Lawrence did talk about her longtime on-again-off-again boyfriend Nicholas Hoult. It just so happened that it coincided with press for X-Men: Apocalypse because they are both in the film together. Hoult plays Hank McCoy/Beast while Lawrence plays Raven/Mystique.
The Oscar winner said there’s one thing that her former beau hated while they were together. During filming, she explained that she had to use shaving cream to get the blue paint off of her body, and so Lawrence would come home smelling a very specific way. Lawrence told Extra the funny bit.
“It is really good for taking paint off, but Nick used to hate it because I would come home smelling like a man and, like, too tired. I was like, ‘Don’t touch me, I’m too tired,’ and he was like, ‘You smell like a dude.'”

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult dated for two years before breaking up the first time in January of 2013. Then they got back together months after, but broke up once again in August of 2014. When they broke up the second time around, Us Weekly’s sources said that it was difficult schedules that caused the split.
“They just weren’t together a lot, her life is a whirlwind. They have gotten back together before, it just got to be too hard for now.”
While they were on their second go around, Jennifer Lawrence briefly discussed their relationship to Marie Claire. “When we’re busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn’t text back or call. Life’s super-busy.
“Obviously you know what they’re doing, and you trust them. We’re so young that it would almost be like, if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We’d be living together. At least this way he’s in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other.”

Hoult, who’s also very private about his love life, had said a few sweet things about Lawrence to V Magazine. At the time he said that despite her massive success, he hasn’t seen a huge change in Lawrence, and that was something unique that he highlighted about the Hunger Games actress.
“It’s like that thing whereby you don’t believe your own hype. Enjoy the good times, but don’t get swept away with it. I think that’s something she’s capable of doing, and that’s what makes her special, but yeah, it is very odd, and I am just kind of a bystander in many ways. It is well-deserved for her. I haven’t really seen any change in her.”
Following her split from Nicholas Hoult, she moved on to date Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for a year. Lawrence kept that relationship under tight wraps, but it was said that Gwyneth Paltrow, Martin’s ex, really liked her. The two split after dating for a year, and after that Lawrence complained that no one takes her out on dates. In a Vogue cover story, Lawrence said that men were mean to her.
“I am lonely every Saturday night. Guys are so mean to me. I know where it’s coming from, I know they’re trying to establish dominance, but it hurts my feelings.”
