Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame has weighed in on the transgender bathroom controversy. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the reality star discussed his views on whether or not transgendered people should be allowed to use whichever bathroom they felt comfortable using — something that has been debated for the past month now.
If you know anything about Phil Robertson, you can probably guess what his take on the matter is.
“This is Phil Robertson from Duck Commander and I’ve got a radical idea. Men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women’s bathroom. Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted,” Robertson reportedly wrote in an email to conservatives.
Phil Robertson may be a little late to the party as this topic was widely hot on the internet last month. This debate started after various state governments in the U.S. tried to pass a bill that would require persons to use whichever bathroom corresponded with the sex listed on their birth certificate, regardless of their gender identity.Retail giant Target was one of the companies to get in on the debate and voice their opinion on the matter. According to CNN Money, Target responded to the controversy by letting their customers know that people at the store are welcome to use whichever restroom or fitting room they identify with.
“We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity. Everyone deserves to feel like they belong.”
Phil Robertson, a longtime Christian conservative, clearly chose a side in this debate, leaving fans cheering him and critics bashing him. But he’s used to it.
“The Judeo-Christian values that led America to greatness are under full assault by the mob mentality of political correctness, and we’re slowly losing our soul,” Robertson’s email continued.
And the Twitter hate has been overflowing ever since.
I will only accept Phil Robertson’s opinions on ANYTHING if and only if he is saying them through the goddamn duck caller

Honestly, I’m more afraid of someone who looks like Phil Robertson when I go into a bathroom than I am about a trans girl.

Phil Robertson has also said that he will be supporting Donald Trump for president — no surprise there. According to the Daily Mail, Robertson initially backed Ted Cruz, but he has since said that he will be loyal to his party and that Trump has his full support.
“I’ll be loyal to the Republican Party. I went for Cruz because I knew that he was a strict constitutionalist, and I know that he does vet his thinking through the Bible like I do, and so I thought ‘Hey, I can identify with this cat.’ It was a way to share the good news of Jesus with people when I spoke on his behalf. But now he’s out. Trump’s in. So I’ll vote for him, no question,” Robertson said.Needless to say, Phil Robertson is getting slammed from multiple angles today.
