Are you a fan of shows such as Wipeout and those crazy Japanese shows where contestants are put through grueling events and obstacle courses in order to win? Well, if you subscribe to Netflix, you are in for a treat! Netflix just announced their latest arrival, Ultimate Beastmaster .
According to the press release from Netflix , Ultimate Beastmaster will not only have the most harrowing obstacle course, but the show will feature on six continents in the ultimate worldwide battle for supremacy. Although, according to the application form , “this is no obstacle course, this is the Beast.”
“ Ultimate Beastmaster is the first international competition series of its kind with six customized local versions featuring local languages, competitors and hosts from each competing country. Those countries are: U.S., Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, Germany and Japan. All ten episodes of the series will be made available at the same moment globally on Netflix.”
Ultimate Beastmasterwill feature Sylvester Stallone ( Rocky, Rambo), who will also produce the program. Producing along side him will be Dave Broome ( The Biggest Loser, Strong). The show will feature 10 episodes with a total of 108 competitors — 18 from each country — battling it out for the title of the ultimate Beastmaster. Each of these hour-long episodes will show 12 contestants — two from each country involved –tackling what is billed as the “most physically demanding” obstacle course ever created. Over the course of nine episodes, nine champions will be crowned the “ultimate Beastmaster.” The final episode will pit each of these champions against each other in order to crown one the overall winner. As is standard with most Netflix programs, the first 10 episodes will be made available globally at the same time.
“I’m thrilled and honored to partner with Netflix. Their trailblazing network is the perfect home for this ground-breaking global series,” said creator and executive producer Dave Broome. “I’m excited for viewers to see extraordinary men and women from around the world try and tackle this amazing physical course in the guise of a jaw-dropping modern monster — The Beast.”
“The course is unequaled in its daring creation and I am excited to be a part of it,” Sylvester Stallone said in a statement. He is thrilled to be offered to be a part of such a “revolutionary concept” and said he couldn’t turn down an opportunity to work with both Dave Broome and Netflix.
Erik Barmack, the Vice President of Netflix’s International Originals, offered that only “a global internet TV network” such as Netflix could possibly bring such an ambitious program to fruition. He is not only excited to see Dave Broome and Sylvester Stallone at the helm, but for fans to be able to enjoy such a show across the globe, regardless of where they are and in a multitude of languages.
