Kesha Covers Lady Gaga Anti-Rape Song, But Both Singers Are Accused Of Hypocrisy

Kesha performed what some considered a touching version of Lady Gaga’s anti-rape anthem, “Till It Happens To You,” on Saturday evening, according to Rolling Stone.

Kesha appeared onstage at the Humane Society Gala in Los Angeles Saturday night to deliver an emotional, bare rendition of Lady Gaga’s Oscar-nominated song ‘Til It Happens to You.’ ‘I want to dedicate this song to every man, woman, child and animal that has ever been abused,’ Kesha said before her performance.”

The performance earned a positive response on YouTube, but a lot of angry responses on Twitter.

The video clip posted on Twitter shows Kesha excitingly hanging out with Dr. Luke in 2011. That doesn’t mean much, but many people had their suspicions about Kesha’s claims when, in February, TMZ posted a clip where Kesha clearly denied Dr. Luke sexually assaulted her.

“Kesha now claims Dr. Luke drugged and raped her, but under oath she flatly denied it. TMZ has obtained portions of a Kesha deposition taken in 2011. Kesha and Luke had both been sued by a manager, and she was asked under oath about comments her mom allegedly made against Luke.”

Kesha later told TMZ that she was forced to lie under oath. Since then, Lady Gaga has come to Kesha’s defense, almost acting — according to some — like she may be exploiting Kesha for PR purposes. However, Lady Gaga has explained that she was also a victim of rape from someone in the industry; although, Gaga never gave specific details. Lady Gaga has not backed down from her support for Kesha, even giving her a “thumbs up” for her performance of the song.

However, this has led to a barrage of criticism against Lady Gaga, who, a couple years back, recorded a song called “Do What You Want With My Body” a duet with R. Kelly. A teaser clip of the video has made its way to YouTube.

The full video was never released, but Lady Gaga claimed the reason had nothing to do with the content. After the clip caused controversy, Gaga showed her continued support for both R. Kelly and Terry Richardson, both artists have been widely accused of performing stomach-churning sex acts on women who claimed their lives were ruined as a result. According to the Independent, there is even a full clip of the video where R. Kelly tells Gaga, after feeling her breasts, that he’s going to put her to sleep and she is going to be pregnant when she wakes up. Lady Gaga hasn’t worked with R. Kelly in a while, but Terry Richardson still plays an active part of her career, as he has been recently hired as the photographer for Gaga’s V Magazine photo shoot.

If that’s not enough, some on Twitter claim that Terry Richardson is collaborating on a new documentary with Lady Gaga.

In the comments section of Rolling Stone after their article on Kesha’s performance, several have responded angrily.

“Ah the rape card! That most valuable power play a person, usually a woman or child has, which they hold onto and then deploy to get what they want,” says Rs959903.

“Lady Gaga has NO RIGHT to pretend to be the spokesperson for rape victims. She used the ‘rape victim’ card to resurrect her career (it failed) after she made a video (look up “Do What You Want To My Body” on YouTube) where R. Kelly puts her to sleep and tells her she’s going to be pregnant when she wakes up. Oh, and the video is directed by Terry Richardson,” says GaysAgainstJenner.
