2016 CMT Music Awards Nominations: Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, & Cam Lead — Full Nominees List
The nominations for the 2016 CMT Music Awards were announced on May 9, and Carrie Underwood, Cam, and Chris Stapleton are the country superstars leading the pack.
Underwood, who is the most awarded artist in CMT Music Awards history after taking home 14 awards since 2005, scooped another three nominations ahead of this year’s ceremony as “Smoke Break,” the lead single from her 2015 album Storyteller, is up for Video, Female Video, and CMT Performance of the Year.
Chris Stapleton also garnered three CMT Music Award nominations with “Fire Away,” which is up for both Video and Male Video of the Year while his CMT Artists of the Year performance of “Nobody to Blame” is nominated for CMT Performance of the Year at the country award show.
Also with three nominations is country music newbie Cam, who scooped nominations for Video, Female Video and Breakthrough Video of the Year for her track “Burning House.”
Blake Shelton follows with two CMT Music Award nominations for his 2015 hit “Sangria,” while Thomas Rhett is also a double nominee alongside fellow country stars Keith Urban and Sam Hunt.
Luke Bryan also has two nominations at the country music awards show, with “Strip It Down” being nominated for the prestigious CMT Video of the Year title, and his 2015 CMT Music Awards performance of “Kick the Dust Up” is up for Male Video of the Year.

CMT also announced alongside the big nominees list that there will be a mystery new category to be added to the country music award show lineup on June 1.

The 2016 CMT Music Awards are set to air live from Nashville, Tennessee, on CMT on June 8.
