Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Are Clobbering The iPhone 6s And 6s Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S7 series is officially a hit. However, it’s an even bigger hit than people thought it would be. BGR has the news.

“For the first time since April last year, Samsung regained the No. 1 spot in the U.S. smartphone market, new research shows. According to a new report from Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research seen by Business Korea, Samsung accounted for 28.8% of the U.S. market for the month of March.”

The article notes that Apple dropped to second place with 23 percent of the market and LG took the third spot with 17.1 percent. The comments after the article are quite polarizing.

“And with the beastly Galaxy Note 6 on the way, Apple with its iPhone 7 will have a tough battle on its hands,” says Dencom2016.

“Phone users sure do care they have been arguing (quite incorrectly) for years that iPhones are the best smartphones as it has the most sales of individual devices. You cannot go back on that as iPhone sales are falling!” says Colin.

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sales have continued to shine through the months of April, and when you are with a large group of people, you probably notice more people with Samsung Galaxy devices than you did one year ago. Samsung might have earned critical praise with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but they have turned that praise into a home run with the S7 and, especially, the S7 Edge.

CNET, which barely gives products a perfect rating, gave the Galaxy S7 Edge five stars.

“Here’s the phone you should buy right now: This one. What catapults the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to such heights? Is it the excellent camera, the beast of a battery, the expandable storage or the seductive design that’s worth more than the sum of its parts? Yes, and more.”

Reviewer Jessica Dolcourt is especially impressed with the screen and battery life, which lasts even power users more than 24 hours. The only thing that she doesn’t seem to like is the price. However, judging by early sales, it’s obvious that consumers don’t have a problem shelling out hundreds of dollars for Samsung’s new masterpiece.

Meanwhile, according to CNN Money, the iPhone 6s has been a huge disappointment for Apple.

“The iPhone 6s has the dubious distinction of being the first iPhone ever to sell fewer models than its predecessor. And it’s not underperforming the iPhone 6 by a little bit — Apple sold 51.2 million iPhones last quarter, 10 million fewer than it sold during the first three months of 2015.”

The article adds that on a conference call with analysts on Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the percentage of customers who are upgrading from older iPhones to the iPhone 6s is way lower than those who upgraded to the iPhone 6 one year before.

It’s important to note that the 6s and 6s Plus aren’t major upgrades and Apple is likely to sell a lot more with the next generation iPhone, which is said to be a major redesign. Then again, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge aren’t huge upgrades from the S6 and S6 Edge. It’s likely that consumers are finally starting to catch on to all the benefits of owning a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
