Janet Jackson Is Pregnant At 49 And Her Mother, Katherine Jackson, Encouraged It

Janet Jackson recently revealed that she was delaying her world tour so that she could focus on building her family. Just weeks later, fans learned that Janet Jackson is pregnant at 49-years-old. It turns out that it was her mother, Katherine Jackson, who encouraged Janet to get pregnant while she still could, according to the Daily Mail.

Jackson turns 50-years-old on May 16, and that has fans talking about her shocking pregnancy news. The singer recently announced that she was postponing the highly anticipated Unbreakable tour which she had already delayed once over a mystery illness and rumored throat surgery. When Janet was telling fans about her decision to drop the tour completely for the time being, she told fans that she was taking the time to start her family. At that point, Janet didn’t admit that she currently was pregnant, and fans were pretty confused and upset about the news that they wouldn’t be seeing the music icon on stage.

It turns out that those doctor’s orders to rest were likely due to her pregnancy, which has now been confirmed. Apparently, Janet took the advice of her own mother and opted to get her family started rather than run another tour. According to Page Six, Katherine Jackson told Janet, “You cannot afford to wait too much longer. I was already a grandma at your age.”

According to reports, Katherine Jackson is “thrilled” to become a grandmother again. Janet Jackson will give her mother her 28th grandchild. It’s unclear what Janet’s due date is, but she is said to be due some time during the late fall or early winter.

Just because Janet Jackson is pregnant, that certainly hasn’t stopped her from sharing more music with fans. The same day that we learned about Jackson’s surprise pregnancy, she also released a brand new music video to hold fans over until she can focus on music instead of babies. Janet’s music video for “Dammn Baby” proved that Janet still has it, and fans can’t wait for her to come back and share more, hopefully during a huge world tour.

Even though Janet Jackson’s pregnancy came as a huge surprise, the singer has been married to her billionaire businessman husband Wissam Al Mana since 2012. Jackson has said in the past that she really wanted a family, but this is the first time she’s ever been pregnant.

Back in April, Jackson shared a video that she made with her fans. In it, she said, “We’re in the second leg of the tour, and there actually has been a sudden change. I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family. So I’m going to have to delay the tour.” Janet continued by saying, “Please, if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.” Now that fans know their favorite music icon is expecting a baby, it’s a whole lot easier to forgive her for postponing the Unbreakable tour again. The first time the tour was postponed for Jackson to undergo surgery and it’s unclear if that had anything to do with her getting pregnant.
