‘Dance Moms’ Star Abby Lee Miller Admits Maddie Ziegler Made Right Decision To Leave, Hints Future Projects [Video]
ALDC coach Abby Lee Miller received a lot of flak on social media for the way she acted on Dance Moms Season 6 finale. Fans pointed out that she acted distant and cold towards Maddie Ziegler, who left the Lifetime reality series for So You Think You Can Dance.
During a live YouTube broadcast, Abby, however, insisted that she could not be happier for Maddie. The reality star added that she is proud of all of Maddie’s accomplishments, adding that she cannot wait to see what’s next for the ALDC member.
Abby Lee Miller also explained the reason for Maddie Ziegler’s departure from Dance Moms. While some sources insisted that the 13-year-old outgrew the Lifetime series, Miller said that it was nothing but a conflict in schedule. Miller said that with Ziegler shooting her debut film, The Book of Henry, as well as Sia’s Sisters, it would be impossible for the young dancer to squeeze in Dance Moms Season 7.
In an episode of Dance Moms Season 6, Maddie talked about being fed up with all the drama surrounding the reality show, especially with the addition of Brynn Rumfallo to ALDC. Her mom, Melissa Gisoni, also shared that they had to turn down several opportunities for Abby and the team.
If, however, Maddie Ziegler ended up choosing between Dance Moms Season 7 and a movie career, the 13-year-old admitted that it will not be a tough decision to make.
“Not to be rude but am I gonna choose between a movie and a competition? Obviously I’m going to choose a movie. But my team is always what I’m gonna go back to. They’re my best friends and I love dancing with them.”
Although it may have hurt that Ziegler chose to move on from Dance Moms, Miller admitted that her student ended up making the right decision.
“I think it is great, and I think it’s what she needed to do,” she said.
According to the International Business Times, Abby Lee Miller, however, hinted that fans have not seen the last of Maddie Ziegler on Dance Moms just yet. Could she return in one of the episodes come Season 7? While details of future projects remain under wraps, Miller explained that Ziegler is still and will always be part of ALDC.
“Hopefully, wink wink, Maddie and I will work together again. She’s still at my studio. That’s never going to change. But hopefully were going to be working on another project that you might just see on your television screen [or] even your computer screen in the future. Keep your fingers crossed.”
While it seems like Abby has come to terms with Maddie leaving Dance Moms after season 6, the coach believed that her younger sister, Mackenzie Ziegler, could have stayed for another season. She explained that with Maddie gone, season 7 would have been the perfect opportunity for Mackenzie to come into her own. She added that many viewers were “head over heels” with Mackenzie.
“We would have seen her really improve this season. You know, sometimes you get stuck doing what your older sister is doing.”
Apart from Zieglers leaving Dance Moms, Abby also has to deal with her ongoing federal bankruptcy fraud case. According to Radar Online, the ALDC coach claimed that she was only making $8,882.55 annually back in 2010. With her monthly expenses at $11,525.40, the reality star claimed that she had a negative net income of over $2,600. She also held that she had an “unanticipated expense of $6,025 to file for bankruptcy.” In the same 2010 Small Business Monthly Operating Report, Abby claimed that Chloe Lukasiak and Paige Hyland’s parents owed her $500 and $800, respectively.
If found guilty, the Dance Moms star could face up to five years in prison and $5 million in fines.
