Mariah Carey And Ex-Husband Nick Cannon Celebrate Mother’s Day Early With Their Children

Mariah Carey and ex-husband Nick Cannon may not be romantically involved anymore but that doesn’t mean they can’t remain friends, especially for the sake of their two children.

The 46-year-old songstress and the America’s Got Talent host appeared to be in good spirits during their pre-Mother’s Day dinner with their twins, Morocco and Monroe.

As reported in People, Nick Cannon took to Instagram to share a photo of himself, Mariah, and their twins sitting at a table in celebration of Mother’s Day. Whatever their differences they may have had during the tail end of their relationship, it’s clear that Carey and Cannon are both willing to set those aside so they can fulfill their co-parenting responsibilities. And it looks like it has paid off big time, given the big smiles on their children’s faces.

“A little dinner after Karate Class!!” captioned Nick.

In December 2014, Nick filed for divorce from Mariah Carey following six years of marriage. Carey is now engaged to billionaire James Packer.

The couple were spotted without their wedding rings in August 2014, and an insider for People confirmed that they had been living separately for months.

During their separation, Carey lived with their kids at their Manhattan apartment, while Cannon stayed in hotels.

Reports suggest that it was Carey’s busy career schedule that led to her split with Nick. In September, Cannon took to Twitter to reiterate that he still loves Carey and “that will never change.” Ever the doting husband, even after the split, Cannon followed it up with twenty more tweets complimenting Carey for being a strong mother.

In 2008, the former couple delighted their fans with a secret wedding in the Bahamas after six weeks of courtship. In May 2013, Mariah and Nick renewed their vows in Disneyland to mark their fifth anniversary.

Mariah and Nick have shown many times since their divorce that they are willing to set aside their differences to ensure that their relationship as co-parents remains amicable. In early 2015, the former couple reunited for Easter and Halloween. And in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Nick talked about his harmonious relationship with his ex-wife, saying “We’ll always be family.”

Nick also revealed during the Ellen interview that he looks forward to meeting Mariah’s billionaire boyfriend, James Packer. Cannon added that he was putting his love life in check at the moment.

“I’m being celibate,” he told Ellen. “I’m trying to work on myself. No sex right now!”

In an interview with Ben Lyons for IMDb Asks, the actor complimented Mariah, saying how much their kids idolize her.

“They get to see her [Mariah] in every aspect, travel the world, and on the stage. Her ability to sing right there on the spot for them. Mommy is an angel, a goddess to them, and Daddy’s fun and silly,” Nick said. “It’s kind of cool for them to watch how they embrace entertainment. It’s almost something that’s very a matter of fact to them.”

In January, the Grammy Winner surprised her fans when she announced her engagement with billionaire James Packer. In describing Packer’s proposal, Carey said that it was “very romantic. He’s an exceptional person and really…it gets more romantic by the day, so it’s very sweet.”

James proposed to Mariah in mid-January in Carey’s New York hometown, in which he got down on one knee and presented the songstress with a stunning 35-carat diamond ring.

“It’s so heavy I can’t lift my arm up!” Carey joked, beaming. “No…It’s a nice chunk.”

During an interview with E! News, Mariah hinted their plans for the wedding.

“If everything works out, it will be somewhat soon.” She laughed, adding, “I don’t mean if everything works out in that way, I mean there’s a lot that goes into it.”
