RAF Fighter Jets Engage UFO In Dogfight Over Northern England, According To Conspiracy Theorists — ‘Mass Panic’ After Sonic Booms Were Heard Over Yorkshire
A report has emerged in the conspiracy theory blogosphere claiming that a series of loud bangs — believed to be sonic booms — heard over several towns and cities in Yorkshire, Northern England, late on Monday, May 2, 2016, were due to a UFO that emerged from the North Sea and engaged British RAF Eurofighter Typhoon jets in a dogfight.
The was “mass panic” after the loud booms were heard in the sky on Monday evening, and residents of several communities in Yorkshire, including Leeds, York, Harrogate, and Doncaster, took to social media expressing concern and anxiety.
Reports that the loud booms had been preceded by the sighting of jet fighters sparked rumors about nuclear bomb detonations and the start of World War III. Some speculated that the booms were caused by a terrorist attack. But a few suggested they could have been caused by a meteorite.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) issued an official report immediately after the incident, claiming that the loud booms were sonic booms from RAF jets going supersonic after they were scrambled to intercept an Air France airliner that lost contact with air traffic controllers.

“Quick reaction alert Typhoon aircraft were launched today from RAF Coningsby to identify an unresponsive civilian aircraft. Communications were re-established and the aircraft has been safely landed,” a RAF spokesperson said.
But reports soon emerged in several conspiracy theory blogs, including the blog What Does It Mean, claiming that the official report was invented to cover-up the fact that the incident involved a UFO detected on radar after it emerged from the North Sea.
According to What Does It Mean, a top-secret intelligence report circulated in the Kremlin on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, revealed that the British scrambled a squadron of Typhoon jets from RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, after satellite and radar detected a mysterious flying object that emerged from the North Sea off the coast of Northern England.
The jets intercepted the UFO, and one of them engaged it briefly in aerial combat before the UFO disappeared mysteriously.
But while some reports claimed that the sonic boom was caused by the UFO as it maneuvered to evade the RAF jets, others claimed that the boom was caused by the British jets going supersonic over Yorkshire.

The sonic booms were heard over large areas of Yorkshire shortly after 9:45 p.m. on Monday, and according to conspiracy theorists, they may have been caused by the UFO accelerating to evade the fighter jets.
“[My] house shook & whole street was out, car & house alarms gone off. Apparently was a sonic boom.”
“Those vibrations shook my house and scared me to death. #QRATYPHOON had me out of my bed.”
Some members of the UFO conspiracy theory community claimed that a “highly classified portion” of the Kremlin report suggested that the mysterious UFO may have been the Baltic Sea Anomaly (see YouTube below), an alien flying saucer allegedly found in the bottom of the Baltic Sea in 2011.

President Vladimir Putin of Russia had allegedly ordered the underwater UFO “nuked” on suspicion that it could be a security threat to Russia. But apparently, the order was never implemented, according to conspiracy theorists.
However, immediately after the failed interception, the British authorities began working to cover up the nature of the incident by issuing a Defense Advisory Notice (DA-Notice) that prohibited local media from reporting on the incident, according to conspiracy theorists.
The MoD soon released its version of what transpired, saying that the incident had involved an Air France airliner that lost radio contact with air traffic control.
“Newcastle Airport has confirmed that ‘flight AFR1558 from Paris, Charles De Gaulle was escorted into Newcastle Airport by RAF aircraft having lost communication with Air Traffic Control. The aircraft landed safely at 22:23.”

Yorkshire police also tweeted, “Confirmation from RAF that loud bangs heard across the county were sonic booms from RAF Typhoon jets. No cause for concern.”
“Air France confirms that due to a radio communication problem AF 1558 had to be accompanied by two British fighter aircraft according to the procedure. The aircraft landed in Newcastle at 22.20 (LT). Safety of clients & crew is an absolute priority.”
To cast doubt on the claim that an airliner had mysteriously lost contact with air traffic control, conspiracy theorists pointed out that aviation sources reveal that, like other modern passenger airliners, all of Air France’s Airbus A320 jetliners are equipped with multiple communications systems that work under most emergency conditions except in extreme situations, such as a catastrophic plane crash that damages the systems physically.
But the Yorkshire Post denied claims that the authorities had issued a DA-Notice forbidding local media organizations to report on details of the incident. The news website also denied allegations that local media were complicit in a government plot to cover-up the incident.
