Jodie Foster has been honored with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Foster has been a screen icon for the past 50 years, her acting career starting at the age of three, and it is easy to say that her star is long awaited as well deserved.

According to E! Jodie Foster’s star ceremony was held on May 4 at 6927 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the TLC Chinese Theatre IMAX. Jodie’s star was the 2,580th star to grace the streets of Hollywood. This honor has been long awaited by the fans and supporters of Jodie, it was, however, Jodie’s decision to wait this long to receive her star.

Jodie Foster is the winner of two Oscars and has many critically acclaimed performances, with all these achievements under her belt, Foster has had previous opportunities to have her name inscribed on the walkway. Jodie, however, did not think that it was enough, she wanted to have directing under her belt before she was honored.

“I made this conscious decision that I didn’t want to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard unless it was in a conjunction with a movie I was directing. I don’t know why that was important to me; it seems silly, but that’s why I waited all these years.”

The producer for the Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, was happy to that they finally got to add Jodie to the Walk of Fame.

“We have been waiting for a long time for Jodie Foster to set a date for her star and are thrilled that the time has come. She is a great role model for women and we are proud to add her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

Kristen Stewart, who played Foster’s onscreen daughter in the 2002 thriller Panic Room, presented Jodie with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday. The onscreen mother and daughter have been close since they co-starred. Kristen Stewart was happy to be a part of Jodie’s ceremony.

“She’s always encompassed what I thought was sort of the prime example of where you want to be and she’s been there for me.”

“She’s a baller on every level. It’s out of control. She did everything young. She kicked Yale’s ass. She won Oscars. She became a filmmaker herself. She created a family and still is just normal and cool and kind.”

Jodie Foster speech expressed her love for Hollywood and how being part of the walkway has always been a fantasy of hers.

“I grew up 10 blocks away on Cahuenga. The star ceremony was something I always thought of and wanted. We do things like this for our mothers. My mother can’t be here, but I know that she is here in spirit. Thank you all for braving the incredibly difficult drizzly Los Angeles weather to come watch me have a secret fantasy fulfilled. I love Hollywood, this is where I grew-up. It’s changing and evolving. I enjoyed it when I was growing up, I loved everything that is was, when I was here and I love it now.”

After the ceremony was over Jodie opened up to People Magazine, expressing how emotional this was for her as it made her nostalgic.

“It just reminds me of conversations that I had with my mom, 10 blocks from here about Hollywood Boulevard and what it represented. You know she’d drive down the street and talk about the history of it. Talk about Clark Gable and all the premieres that happened at Mann’s Chinese – Grauman’s Chinese at the time. It’s a great bit of nostalgia and I feel honored to be a part of it.”
