BTS: Popular K-Pop Boy Group Ranks Number One On iTunes Music Video Chart For ‘Fire’

Out of all the current K-pop boy groups in today’s industry, Bangtan Boys, better known as BTS, are making the biggest impact. Established back in 2013, the K-pop boy group consisting of idols Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Rap Monster, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, are setting records despite the fact that they are signed on to a small talent agency. To date, BTS has been the most retweeted musical act on Twitter earlier this year and they often outlast the votes for music awards, beating established acts like Big Bang and EXO. Not only that, thanks to BTS, Big Hit Entertainment was the No. 2 agency to sell the most album units back in 2015. They actually beat YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment in the process.

Now BTS can add another record to their long list of accolades. Recently, BTS ranked No. 1 for their newest music video, “Fire,” on the iTunes Music Video Charts. That is an accomplishment on its own because that means BTS was able to defeat artists from other music industries with a far more prominent international reach such as the American or European music industries.

The news was first reported by Korean entertainment news outlet Naver, who said the music video for BTS’ song “Fire” ranked No. 1 on the iTunes music video charts. The music video itself has been attached below for viewing.

“Fire” is the title song featured on BTS’ comeback for 2016, an extended play (EP), which is also known as a mini-album in South Korea, titled The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever. Prior to the mini-album’s release, BTS did multiple promotions, both day and night versions, to build hype among the K-pop community as well as the A.R.M.Y.

Nevertheless, the fact that BTS is ranked No. 1 on a prominent international chart is both an honor and great news for the K-pop idol group as well as Big Hit Entertainment. The latter actually took the time to comment on BTS’ groundbreaking honor, indicating that they see BTS expanding beyond just the K-pop genre.

“This is meaningful in that BTS was able to achieve the No. 1 ranking on the iTunes charts, the world’s largest music charts, in the overall charts and not just in the K-POP genre.”

Though the music video for “Fire” is receiving the most attention, BTS actually earned other accolades pertaining to The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever. According to Soompi, the B-side track titled “EPILOGUE: Young Forever” ranked No. 8 on the same charts as “Fire.” As for the mini-album itself, it ranked No. 9 on the top album charts on iTunes as of March 3. That is a nine-rank jump within just a day of debuting, in which their rank at that time was No. 18.

Sales for hard copies of the album also did very well. According to Design & Trend, The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever sold over 100,000 copies within three days. This new record actually beat BTS’ old record set by their last mini-album which reached 100,000 copies sold within 10 days.

Ultimately, the fact that this album sold so well shows just how popular BTS has become and that K-pop fans, especially the A.R.M.Y., are more than devoted. For starters, The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever is a repackaged album with only three new songs. Everything else listed are remixes of old songs from the previous mini-albums in the trilogy. Not only that, it is more expensive too.
