‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers — Jason Momoa Teases The Return Of Khal Drogo
While Jon Snow (Kit Harington) makes his epic comeback on Game of Thrones, there may be another character re-joining the show. In a new message on Instagram, Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo in the series, hinted that his character will return this season.
Momoa first hinted of a comeback following the first episode of Season 6. After a scene where his on-screen wife, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), confronted the leader of the Dothraki horde, Momoa took to social media to express his support for Daenerys.
“My baby is holding it down @emilia_clarke #danyanddrogo Greatest show in the world. So happy for all my friends,” he wrote. “Miss u see u soon.”
According to the Independent, the last part of the message sparked rumors that Drogo is going to be resurrected this season. After all, Jon was recently brought back to life, so why not Drogo?
Although fans would certainly welcome back Momoa’s character, there are several problems with bringing him back from the dead. For starters, his death happened way back at the end of the first season. Furthermore, Daenerys burned Drogo’s body in order to give birth to her three dragons, which further complicates things.
Without a body to resurrect, the show will be hard pressed to bring him back. However, there are other ways that Momoa could return to the series, especially considering the revelations about Vaes Dothrak and what happens to widows in Dothraki culture.
According to Bustle, there is a strong possibility that Drogo could appear in a flashback or vision once Daenerys arrives in Vaes Dothrak. This would not be surprising, as Drogo has appeared in her visions since his death. Back in Season 2, Drogo showed up when Daenerys went through a trial in the House of the Undying.
Clarke’s character has undergone an interesting development over the course of six seasons on Game of Thrones. Lately, Daenerys has struggled to win over the support of her people and has had difficulty dealing with the reality of ruling. With Daenerys heading to the mysterious Vaes Dothrak, there is a good chance that Drogo can offer her a bit of guidance as she attempts to get back on track in her quest to rule the world.
Although Daenerys might not have to deal with Drogo’s resurrection, she is coming to terms with the new Khal on the show, Khal Moro (Joe Naufahu). According to Bustle, Naufahu recently revealed that fans can expect Moro to provide some comic relief as the series heads into some dark times.
In fact, along with his character’s jokes on-screen, Naufahu shared how he had a lot of fun with Clarke and the Dothraki language. As fans are well aware, Clarke has been an expert in the Dothraki tongue since Season 1, yet that didn’t stop Naufahu from trying to throw her off her game.
“So we’d have little jokes, me and Emilia, with our own little pidgin Dothraki here and there,” he stated. “And I’d slip in some Samoan and Tongan words and try to put her off.”
Meanwhile, little else is known about Khal Moro and his importance to the series as a whole. In fact, the character was mentioned only a few times in the book, and there is no telling if George R.R. Martin is going to mention him more in the new book, The Winds of Winter.
As far as Momoa is concerned, the actor has been extremely busy ever since his time on Game of Thrones. In fact, Momoa is currently starring in the new series, Frontier, and is getting ready to appear as Aquaman in the upcoming Justice League movies.
