WWE Rumors, Spoilers: Updated And Rumored Card For ‘Extreme Rules’ — Three Matches Confirmed, Others Teased
It’s only been a couple of days since Payback, and WWE is already preparing for their next Pay-Per-View, which will be a lot more violent. On May 22, Extreme Rules is set to take place, and there are already three matches confirmed and in place for the event. Those three bouts are all title matches, but there are many others being teased already and the rumored four-way dance for the Intercontinental Title is what fans are most looking forward to.
Roman Reigns is slowly learning toward the heel turn that everyone wants him to make, and it could likely come into existence at Extreme Rules. He’s been a lot more vicious in the ring lately and throwing AJ Styles through the announce table on Monday Night RAW was just the latest sign that he was approaching a change.
There could be a lot that comes out of this “Extreme Rules” match including interference by Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, The Usos, and maybe the main roster debut of Finn Balor.
At Payback, Enzo Amore suffered a concussion that will keep him out of action for a while, and it catapulted The Vaudevillains into a feud for the WWE Tag Titles. Now, they will face off with The New Day, and the old-school brawlers are hoping to get their first taste of WWE gold. This match has been confirmed by WWE.com‘s preview page for Extreme Rules, and it does not say if there will be a stipulation on it. As of now, there isn’t one, but one could be added in the two-and-a-half weeks before it takes place.
After a match at Payback that is now referred to as the “Chicago Screwjob,” there will be another match between these two superstars. Charlotte or Natalya will have to make their opponent submit in order to win the match, and there will be no legends around to help this time.Ric Flair has been banned from ringside, so he won’t lend his assistance to his daughter.
The feud between Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin was thought to have ended with the victory by “The Showoff” at Payback, but it’s not dead yet. They are still not the biggest fans of each other and could very well get another shot at one another at Extreme Rules.
Another program that is continuing is Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho, and that was evident by Monday Night RAW. Sports World News is reporting that at Extreme Rules, the two could face off in a “Last Man Standing” match to see which one has the right to stand tall and run the asylum.
Confirmed matches for Extreme Rules are as follows.- WWE World Heavyweight Title: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles (Extreme Rules)
- WWE Tag Team Titles: The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains
- WWE Women’s Title: Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya (Submission match; Ric Flair banned from ringside)
Rumored matches for Extreme Rules are as follows.
- United States Title: Kalisto (c) vs. Rusev
- Intercontinental Title: The Miz (c) vs. Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
- Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho (Extreme Rules/Last Man Standing)
- The Usos vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
- Becky Lynch vs. Emma
- Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler (Extreme Rules)
The Usos vs. the Bullet Club seems like another logical match for the card, but WWE may just have them get involved in the main event. Becky Lynch and Emma were supposed to have a match at Payback and then at Monday Night RAW, but it kept getting pulled. It may finally happen at Extreme Rules.
The Fatal 4-way for the Intercontinental Title is all but confirmed, and it is the one that fans want to see the most. It would most likely steal the show and has a good chance at being a strong “Match of the Year” candidate as well.
Rusev won the right to challenge for the U.S. Title that is currently held by Kalisto, but WWE has not yet said when that match would happen.
There you have it. Three matches are officially confirmed for Extreme Rules, but there will likely end up being four or five more added to the final card. It is expected that there will be a huge advancement in the AJ Styles/Bullet Club angle, and the possible Fatal 4-Way between Kevin Owens, The Miz, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro would be worth the purchase price alone.
