Claire Danes’ Illuminated Cinderella Gown Creates A Stir At 2016 Met Gala
Claire Danes was one of the most talked about attendees of the 2016 Met Gala as she seemed to be channeling her inner Disney princess, Cinderella, since the gown she wore actually illuminated in the dark.
As per reports, designer Zac Posen made the dress for the Homeland actress. The custom-made baby blue gown was seen on the red carpet, but the lights didn’t work when she was in areas that were well-lit.

However, in the Instagram posts of the fashion designer, the dress lit up when in darkness, making it both breathtaking and appropriate for this year’s theme.
The theme of this year’s 2016 Met Gala was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.
Based on the photos uploaded online, Claire Danes was assisted by designer Zac Posen and husband Hugh Dancy while going up the grand steps of the well-known museum.
Accordingly, the glow-in-the-dark dress was lined with fiber optics all throughout. The glow highlights the details of the gown from the corset, the full skirt, and the train.
Before the gown was seen on the red carpet, Zac Posen took to Instagram to tease a few shots of his creation. He wrote alongside the photos, “Celestial grandeur. Illuminating ballgown.”
While on the red carpet, Claire Danes stopped by to be interviewed by the press, and the actress shared that she chose to wear the creation of the designer to the annual fashion affair because of their long-time ties to each other. It turned out that the New York-based designer and actress were neighbors back in high school and have been friends for a long time now.
In fact, Zac Posen also made a dress for Claire Danes when they were in high school.
The actress completed her look with her hair pulled back into a tight bun, further drawing attention to the dress. Her shoulders and bone structure were also flaunted in the strapless dress.
She also wore a glossy coat of ruby red lipstick. The lipstick was the only pop of color for her look as the whole ensemble was quite natural and simple.

When asked how she was feeling as the dress is quite difficult to move around in, Claire Danes said that she felt great and joked that she was lucky to have her designer and her husband as her two pillars for the evening.
Claire Danes added that the gown she was wearing was a work of art and it was a privilege to be able to wear it. Earlier in the day, it was reported that model Heidi Klum was the one wearing the dress, as the photos posted by Zac Posen did not show who the lucky actress was. She also revealed that although the dress’ beauty was not seen during the red carpet walk, her 3-year-old son was “pretty stoked” with the design of the gown.
Other people who were able to take photos and videos of Claire Danes’ dress dubbed the gown as “Galactic Cinderella.”
Aside from Claire Danes, model Karolina Kurkova also wore a dress that shined. She wore a sheer dress that had flowing florals. Accordingly, the flowers on the gown of the model had “emotional intelligence,” as it was designed to light up in accordance to the emotions of her social media followers. The model took to Instagram to share the interactive twist of her gown.
