Chumlee Arrest Update: May 23 Court Date, Shoe Collection Up For Grabs On eBay
Chumlee heads to court on May 23. Fans everywhere are holding their breath, waiting to see what happens to the Pawn Stars favorite. The majority hope he’ll be able to redeem himself in the eyes of the network execs and the public. At this point, only time and the judge’s decision will tell.
There’s hardly been a peep out of anyone close to Chumlee, a.k.a. Austin Russell, since he was arrested (after a raid of his home) on March 9. Shortly after the story broke, Inquisitr reported both Chumlee and his longtime girlfriend weren’t saying a word. No one knows whether or not the couple is still together.
Tanya Hyjazi started dating Russell in 2013. She is instrumental in helping him lose a great deal of weight, shortly after his dad died unexpectedly. Her chef’s job, at a well-known Vegas casino, made it easier for her to help Chumlee achieve success.
She’s not the only one in the relationship to assist in altering the other’s physical appearance. Chumlee paid for Tanya’s breast implants. What a guy! He explained it this way.
“She wanted a boob job and she was going to pay it herself but she works so hard. She’s a chef for a major casino. I thought to myself, it literally takes me a couple hours of work to buy a boob job so why would I make her pay for them. She had her money saved up and I just felt it was the right thing to do. That’s a good birthday present, right?”
No new news via Twitter either, it seems. The last time Chumlee tweeted was on March 7, two days before the bust. He informed fans he was going to auction off some of his famous shoe collection on eBay. As of this writing, more than one dozen pairs are up for grabs on eBay. Get ’em while they’re hot!

The most recent tweets and blog posts from the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop’s Twitter account and website make no mention of Chumlee whatsoever. There has been no official statement from the network either. It really makes you wonder about Russell’s fate on the show, doesn’t it?
In a separate Inquisitr report, Chumlee’s longtime friend, Corey Harrison, hinted about Russell’s possible innocence on Instagram. As you can see, the message has 1,800+ likes.
Corey and Chumlee have been friends since they were children. Long before Chumlee got a job at Gold and Silver Pawn, the two frequently played together in the shop. Maybe that’s where Russell got bit by the “collectibles” bug.
Interestingly enough, Huffington Post explains to readers that Chumlee and the rest of the Pawn Stars gang no longer work behind the counter, unless the show is filming. What’s the reasoning behind this? It all has to do with privacy laws. Since they’ve become celebrities, everyone wants to take their pictures. Being behind the counter, during an average work day, would compromise the privacy of actual patrons.
Chumlee is facing a total of 20 charges: 19 drug charges and one sexual assault charge. The alleged victim, whose name hasn’t been released publicly, is or was an employee of the pawn shop.
What are your feelings regarding the mess Chumlee has gotten himself into? When all is said and done, legally that is, do you think he’ll still be employed by Gold & Silver Pawn Shop? Or do you think he’ll be spending time in jail? Express your Chumlee-related thoughts below.
